The training will focus on the inspection aspects of meeting your MS4 permit requirements. We were proud to be able to bring people together from across the state to share ideas, solutions and success stories! The MECA Annual Conference gave everyone the unique opportunity to interact with colleagues who have also dedicated their professional lives to erosion control, stormwater management and natural resource protection. Over 200 people attended. The overall evaluations from those that attended the annual conference can be summed up in one word GREAT! Attendees said that the workshops, networking, trade show and food was wonderful! Thanks to all the members, attendees and sponsors for their support of MECA and helping create another excellent conference! We look forward to next year! Mark Your Calendars! P A G E 2 V O L U M E 3 1, I S S U E 3 Message from MECA Vice President To begin with, I want to personally thank all the attendees and sponsors of the 2017 MECA Annual Conference in Mankato in February. I always enjoy the opportunity to catch up with our longtime supporters and welcoming the first time attendees. The conference was a great success and the weather was better than expected for early February. Our membership continues to grow and because of you our organization is strong as ever as we start a new year. With spring attempting to come early this year we are all itching to get a jump on our projects. The MECA board and staff have already begun scheduling training events for the spring, summer and fall to make sure we are providing the education and resources you need. Check out our website and watch your email for schedules. Our next conference will be January 23 rd 25 th, 2018 at the Double Tree in Minneapolis. The MECA Board would appreciate your ideas on how we can make the next conference even better. Please send us your thoughts by April 12, 2017. P A G E 3 V O L U M E 3 1, I S S U E 3 New MECA Board Member Keri B. Aufdencamp has over 14 years of experience working for the MN Dept. of Transportation and M.A. Mortenson Company. Her environmental experience includes: environmental risks, soil and groundwater contamination, vapor intrusion, hazardous building materials, environmental compliance, wetlands, and endangered species. Keri s willingness to think outside the box helps develop creative solutions to complex environmental issues. Keri is a member of the International Erosion Control Association, MECA, MN Ground Water Association, and MN Brownfields. Keri holds certifications through the U of M Erosion and Storm Water Management Certification Program. Keri has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and Earth Science from the University of Northern Iowa and has completed graduate work towards a Master s degree in Geology and Water Resources at Iowa State University. She enjoys volunteering at her children s schools, co-leading a Girl Scout Troop, and baking. Keri looks forward to working with the other MECA Board Members. Austin Cavallin is this year s recipient of the MECA Scholarship Award Austin is from Pine City Minnesota and is attending the University of Minnesota Duluth. He is majoring in Geology and is planning to graduate in May of 2019. Congratulations to Austin! We wish him the best in his career! PaveDrain blocks were palletized to a 4x3x4 pattern and the installer modified their existing Probst paver machine to accommodate the large PaveDrain blocks.
