Hello from Waveney Valley Partnership Summer School! We are back with another very busy programme for the Summer Holidays of 2017. Please find below the Guide to this year s activities. We run an offer of Pay for 4 days and get the 5 th FREE! These must be full days and are worked out per family. Places are limited and we work on a first come first served basis. Waveney Valley Partnership School students will have priority booking until June 16 th, after which we will also advertise to other schools in the area. Please complete the attached BOOKING FORM and send, with your PAYMENT (STRICTLY PAYMENT IN ADVANCE) to: Beth Vale, c/o Yoxford Primary School, 2 Sunnyside, High Street, Yoxford, Saxmundham, Suffolk, IP17 3EU. Cheques are to be made payable to: THE CONSORTIUM ACADEMY Please fill in the REGISTRATION FORM and send with your booking form. We cannot take your child/children unless we have this completed and returned. If you have paid for a session, but your child is unwell, then subject to numbers we will do our best to move them to another session. If you do not notify us of an absence, then you will forfeit the money already paid. If you would like to add your child to extra sessions during the holiday, this can be done, subject to numbers, and must be paid for in advance. Our hours are 8am to 6pm and can be booked as either half days or full days as follows: 8am-1pm half day (includes breakfast) 12 1pm 6pm - half day (includes afternoon snack) 12 8am-6pm - full day 20 (includes breakfast and afternoon snack) We do not provide lunch. If your child/children are with us over 12 1pm, please make sure they have a packed lunch with them. So, what have we got planned?

Monday 31 st July: Mendham Primary School AM Nature Walk and Picnic The children will spend a morning outside collecting natural materials, such as wood and leaves. We will discuss the items that we ve found, before going on to do some tree rubbings using crayons. Please ensure all children wear sunscreen if they are attending this activity. PM Woodland Crafts We will use the materials we collected in the morning to do a variety of different crafts. This will include making bird feeders that can be taken home at the end of the session. Tuesday 1 st August: Mendham Primary School AM Art: Bubble Animals After breakfast, the children will make animal bubble blowers using recycled goods such as bottles and milk cartons. We then head outside to try out our creations! Please ensure that children wear old clothes for this activity and bring something to change into after. PM Drama Afternoon Children will create silent movie scenes with our friendly members of staff. They can also take part in various drama based games, such as fruit bowl and charades. Wednesday 2 nd August: St Edmunds Primary School (Hoxne) AM Old Fashioned Sweet Making Children will try their hand at some old fashioned sweet making. They will have a recipe to colour in and take home and will create their own sweet packaging. PM Cinema All the beanbags will come out and children can settle down to one of the latest releases on DVD on the big projector screen complete with popcorn and retro cinema tickets. Thursday 3 rd August: Outing, meet at Mendham Primary School RSPB Minsmere (Full Day) We will be doing a variety of activities with the rangers at the RSPB site, Minsmere. Children will learn how to identify birds and can even try their hand at pond dipping! This will be followed by a walk on the beach at Dunwich. The minibus will leave Mendham at 9.30.

Monday 7 th August: Mendham Primary School AM Natural Tye-Dying Children will spend the morning dying material using plants and flowers. Please ensure old clothes are worn and sunscreen is applied. PM Scavenger Hunt! Keen eyes will be needed to spot all the items on our Outdoor Scavenger Hunt! Children will also create their own scavenger hunts to challenge their Summer School friends. Tuesday 8 th August: St Edmunds Primary School (Hoxne) AM Detectives! Get involved with various detective themed activities and work as a team to solve the mystery onsite! PM Splash! Art Grab your old clothes and get ready to do some water painting! Guaranteed to be a fun (and messy!) afternoon. Please ensure children wear old clothing. Wednesday 9 th April: Outing, meet at Mendham Primary School Africa Alive! (Full Day) The minibus will leave Mendham Primary School at 9.30 and we will head to Kessingland to visit Africa Alive! Children will spend the day exploring the 100 acre park and visiting the animals. They can get a birdseye view of the lions from the Lookout Lodge and take a casual stroll though the lemur enclosure. Once again, please ensure sunscreen is worn. Thursday 10 th August: Mendham Primary School AM Archery After breakfast, the children will be able to have a go at Archery with an instructor. It doesn t matter whether they have had a go before or not, we will get them on target. If we have time, we will have a few games too. PM Sports and Games Get the children running about in the afternoon with a selection of games and sports!

Monday 14 th August: Mendham Primary School AM Crazy Games Egg and Spoon races, sack races, three legged races...join a team and see if they can be crazy sport champions! PM - Craft: Pencil Case Craft Children will get crafty and will design and create their own No-Sew Zipper Pencil Cases out of recycled materials. Tuesday 15 th August: Outing, meet at Mendham Primary School Framlingham Castle (Full Day) Following breakfast, we will head to Framlingham Castle for a full day of historic adventures! The bus will leave Mendham at 9.30 -- fancy dress optional! Children are also welcome to bring an additional 2 to spend in the gift shop. Wednesday 16 th August: St Edmunds Primary School (Hoxne) AM Street Dance Kate from Knock Out Entertainment will teach the children how to street dance, in a friendly and fun filled session. Please ensure that children wear comfortable clothes and shoes and bring a bottle of water with them. PM Mask Making Join the instructors in a relaxed session on mask making. Children will use multi-media to create interesting masks to take home with them. Thursday 17 th August: St Edmunds Primary School (Hoxne) AM Parachute Games We will head outside in the sunshine and play parachute games such as Cat and Mouse, Mushroom and Ball Surfing. Please ensure sunscreen is worn. PM Jewellery Making Children will use beads and colourful thread to make bracelets and necklaces for friends and family.

Monday 21 st August: St Edmunds Primary School (Hoxne) AM Puppet Theatre Making Design and create your own puppet theatre. PM Story Writing and Puppet Theatre Performance Children will write their own stories and create shadow puppets to use in the theatres from the morning session. They will then be given the opportunity to perform their stories in front of their Summer School friends. Tuesday 22 nd August: Outing, meet at Mendham Primary School Rendlesham Forest Picnic and UFO Hunt Our friendly staff will take the children on a walk through Rendlesham Forest. They will stop for a picnic midday, before going on a UFO hunt. Alien activities will also be available! The bus will leave Mendham at 9.30. Wednesday 23 rd August: St Edmunds Primary School (Hoxne) AM Kung Fu Chris Donovan from Three Family Fist will be joining us for a fabulous 2 hour session of games and Kung Fu moves a brilliant work out and great fun for budding Kung Fu masters. PM Salt Dough Fun Your child will get a chance to roll their sleeves up and create salt dough figures during this imaginative session. These figures will then be cooked and decorated. Thursday 24 th August Outing, meet at Mendham Southwold Beach (Full day) AM Beach Games Children will create outfits for the beach and play a variety of games in the sunshine. PM Waterfun Grab your swimwear and join us for an afternoon of water fun! Please ensure sunscreen is worn for this session.
