PREREQUISITES Chapter 1 This document is intended as quick reference for users familiar with Windows settings, naming conventions and network browsing. The OneSource Installation Guide is available in.pdf format on Horizon's Knowledge Base and provides more detailed instruction. Verify NOTE: Only screens that require input are shown in this guide. Line machines meet processor and memory specifications (2GB). Windows settings are per district requirements. Hardware updates are turned OFF. Firewall is OFF or ports 1001 or 1002 and 4443 are open. (The default port is 1001 but may be 1002. See figure 2 for path to verify server.) UAC (User Access Control) is on Never Notify. Need to Have OneSource installation media Provided on DVD from Horizon Verify site version matches server version License (.LIC) files Hardware Drivers (Refer to Hardware Setup on page 4-1.) Image Adjuster (if using Installation Method 2) Need to Know Every site has a Line 1 (manager workstation). This is the line where the manager functions (bank deposit, reporting, etc.) are performed. Line 1 may be a dedicated workstation in the manager's office but can also be placed in the cafeteria for use as a POS terminal itself. Line 1 installation requires a license. Line 1 points to the server for initialization. See Figure 1-1. Lines 2+ (additional POS terminals) are added based on cafeteria size and number of meals served. Lines 2+ point to Line 1. See Figure 1-1. Figure 1-1: OneSource Communications Setup Installations for Lines 2+ do not require a license. Prerequisites Verify 1

Methods of Installation There are two methods for line installations: NOTE: You can mix and match these methods per site (i.e., use Method 1 for single line sites; use Method 2 for multi-line sites. Method 1: Install manager as Line 1 and other POS terminals as Lines 2+. Method 1 is typically used when the computer being installed is already known to be either the manager workstation or a POS terminal. Refer to Installing Manager as Line 1, Other POS Terminals as Lines 2+ on page 2-1. Method 2: Method 2 is often used when pre-installing either as an image or when installing multiple machines from a central location for later distribution to sites. Install ALL lines as 2+ and use Image Adjuster. Refer to Installing ALL Lines as Line 2+ and Identifying with the Image Adjuster Utility on page 3-1. 2 Prerequisites Methods of Installation

INSTALLING MANAGER AS LINE 1, OTHER POS TERMINALS AS LINES 2+ Chapter 2 Method 1 is typically used when the computer being installed is already known to be either the manager workstation or a POS terminal. OneSource Software Installation NOTE: Prior to installing OneSource on a site computer, verify the port used for communication by checking OneSource on the server. 1. At the Central Office, log in to OneSource. 2. Go to System Management > Communications > Communications Setup (100602). The Port Number is used by communications to transmit data between locations.
