1 General Information Africa-India Mobility Fund (AIMF) The AIMF will fund researchers from India and Africa for short visits in either direction to explore opportunities for building and strengthening scientific collaborations These are expected to enhance skills and contribute to the growth of knowledge and leadership towards common health challenges Researchers working in India or Africa can apply for travel and subsistence funding over a 3-month period at a university, medical school or research institution in one of the partner countries Vision To establish links and cultivate a culture of collaboration between African and Indian researchers that will serve as a vehicle to improve research capacity and build leadership in biomedical and clinical research for Africa and India Overall Goal: The AIMF is intended to fund researchers from Africa and India for short visits in either direction to explore opportunities for building and strengthening scientific collaborations These are expected to enhance skills and contribute to the growth of knowledge and leadership towards common health challenges Collaborations should focus on a single project involving researchers in Africa and India, respectively Objectives To strengthen research & innovation capacity and knowledge exchange To strengthen scientific collaboration in India and Africa Eligibility of Applicants 1 Nationals of India and nationals of countries comprising the African continent 2 Based either in India or in Africa, and be affiliated with a recognized academic, medical, research or other similar institutions Those based at for-profit organizations are not eligible 3 Possess a PhD/MD or equivalent research qualification Applicants within 15 years of PhD/MD would be preferred 4 Hold a permanent or fixed-term contract in an eligible institution, which must span the duration of the visit 5 Individuals are eligible to receive only one grant per year Science The scientific scope of applicants responsive to this funding should be broadly focused on infectious and non-communicable diseases of relevance to local, national, or global health The scope of the collaborative opportunity may include but is not limited to HIV/AIDS, TB, dengue, malaria, vector-borne diseases, parasitic infections, emerging infections, cancer, 1 diabetes, hypertension, health systems research, AMR, drug development, microbiome and general biomedical sciences 2 While applications that involve existing collaborations will be considered, applications that target new collaborations are particularly encouraged For full details on the funding opportunity announcement, please visit the AAS website at: http://aasciencesacke/aesa/en/programmes Page 3 of 11
