Accident / Incident Investigation for Schools This course will provide the knowledge and understanding required to complete accident investigations in schools. The aim of the course is to provide you with knowledge and understanding of Accident / Incident investigation requirements in schools. This course will provide you with the following knowledge: Why accident / incident investigation is important Who should complete the investigation What should be investigated How investigations should be completed How to plan any improvement actions required. The person responsible for Accident Investigation in the school. The Head Teacher / Principal and Governors. 30 45 minutes. 1

Accident / Incident Reporting for Schools The course covers the procedures that should be followed when completing and accident / incident report in a school. The aim of the course is to provide you with the knowledge to understand the following: What is an accident / incident? How and Why accidents should be recorded Monitoring accidents / incidents RIDDOR requirements Accident Investigation First Aid Treatment recording Near-Misses & Dangerous Occurrences Accidents off-site Record Keeping. All staff who may have to complete an accident form or deal with an accident. 30 45 minutes. 2

Asbestos Awareness Training (Refresher Course) This course is a refresher for an employee who has completed an instructor led Asbestos Awareness course in the past. It is a requirement of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and associated Approved Code of Practice that Asbestos Awareness training is refreshed annually. This course will refresh your knowledge as required under the Approved Code of Practice. Once you have completed the course you will have been reminded of the following: Legislation What Asbestos is Where it could be located Your duty to manage Asbestos related disease Asbestos removal requirements. Premises officers or SLT who have completed instructor led Asbestos Awareness training in the past. 45 minutes - 1 hour. 3

COSHH Risk Assessment Training for Schools The aim of this course is to provide those given the responsibility, the knowledge and confidence to complete suitable and sufficient COSHH risk Those who complete the course will be able to carry out and or amend COSHH risk assessments within their school. Teachers and support staff. Premises Managers and support staff. 45 minutes - 1 hour. 4

COSHH Training for Schools This course provides the participant suitable knowledge to store and use chemicals safely within the school site. The aim of the course is to provide you with the knowledge to understand the following: What is COSHH and why is it important Risk Assessment and control measures Personal Protective Equipment Responsibilities for safe use and storage of chemicals. Cleaners, premises staff, kitchen staff, support staff, all others who are required to use chemicals for cleaning duties within the school. 30 45 minutes. 5

Electrical Safety for Schools (Premises Officer Refresher Course) This course will provide a refresher for those who have previously completed an instructor led Electrical Safety course. This course does not provide the knowledge to carry out electrical work. The aim of the course is to provide you with the knowledge to understand the following: Principles of electricity The Regulations relevant to electrical safety Dangers and control measures when working with electrical equipment Preventive measures to be implemented to reduce the risk of harm and fire Occurring from electricity when working with electrical equipment and near electrical systems Testing and inspection of electrical systems and equipment. Premises Officers or support staff who have previously completed an instructor led Electrical Safety course. 45 minutes - 1 hour. 6

Fire Safety Training for Schools This course provides the participant with the information required to fulfil the requirement of the employer to provide appropriate fire safety training for all staff. At the end of this training course you will have a suitable understanding of fire safety. The course will cover the following topics: Why is fire safety awareness training important Fire safety signs you will find at work Fire safety equipment in your building, passive and active Fire extinguishers Emergency procedures. All school staff as part of an induction or refresher. 30 45 minutes. 7

Fire Safety Training in Schools for Premises Managers This course provides those responsible for managing the fire safety systems in schools with the information required to successfully fulfil this role. The aim of the course is to provide those with a fire management responsibility the information required to ensure they are fully aware of the legal requirements and how to practically fulfil their responsibilities. On completion of the course the employee will be able to: Identify the relevant fire safety legislation and associated fire safety guidance Understand key fire safety terms Understand the fire risk assessment process Assist with the development of Fire Emergency plans Manage actions raised from fire risk assessments. Designed for Premises Managers, School Business Managers and Head Teachers (those responsible for Fire Safety Management). 30-45 minutes. 8

Fire Warden Training for Schools This course provides the participant with the information required to be a Fire Warden at their school. You will have been assigned this responsibility by the Head Fire warden or Head Teacher / Principal. At the end of this training course you will have a suitable understanding of fire safety. The course will cover the following topics: Your responsibilities as a Fire Warden How to sweep a building for occupants Fire safety equipment in your building, passive and active Fire Extinguishers Emergency Procedures responsibilities Fire Warden fire safety management responsibilities. All staff who have been assigned Fire Warden duties. All such staff are also required to complete the Judicium Education Fire Safety Training course. 45 60 minutes. 9

Health and Safety Basics for Schools This course provides the participant with the knowledge to understand the following Firstly, why health and safety is so important, and the benefits to your school, its staff and pupils Secondly, your personal responsibilities and the key safety procedures in your school. The participant will be provided with information regarding key topics providing appropriate training for their general work within the school. This includes: Identifying hazards General workplace safety Safety signs Emergency procedures Fire safety (basic) Personal Protective Equipment. Those who complete this training should complete the following courses to ensure they are appropriately trained in all basic areas of H&S that may affect their safety at work: Fire Safety; Working at Height (Basic); Manual Handling. All school staff as a Health and Safety induction course or Health and Safety refresher. 30 minutes. 10

Health and Safety Management in Schools Head of Department This course provides heads of department with the appropriate health and safety knowledge to suitably manage their department. A school has several key areas, these include practical departments. The Head Teacher is ultimately responsible for the whole school but depends on the experts in each area to ensure the school s activities and facilities are managed correctly. This course will enable heads of department to use their specialist knowledge while applying some effective measures to ensure they comply with health and safety requirements. The aim of this course is to provide heads of department with the knowledge and understanding to be able to effectively manage the health and safety of their department. The head of department is the expert in their particular subject but also the responsible person for the safety and health of those working and learning under their control. This course has been designed so that on completion of the course heads of department will be able to: Recognize the importance of the health and safety management Understand their role and responsibilities Appreciate the consequences of failing to manage health and safety effectively Know how to plan and carry out successful health and safety management within your department Understand the importance of monitoring and reviewing health and safety systems and procedures. Designed for all Heads of Department at secondary schools. 30-45 minutes. 11

Health and Safety Training for School Governors This course will provide Governors with an understanding of their health and safety responsibilities, what can go wrong and how they can assist the school in making sure all required management procedures are in place and followed. The aim of the course is to provide Governors with the knowledge to be able to effectively manage the health and safety of the school in line with their responsibilities under local management of schools and relevant legislation. On successful completion of the course Governors will be able to: Recognise the importance of health and safety management Understand their role and responsibilities for health and safety Appreciate the consequences of failing to manage health and safety effectively Know how to plan and carry out successful health and safety management with the school Understand the importance of monitoring and reviewing health and safety systems and procedures. Designed for School Governors. 30 minutes - 45 minutes. 12

Manual Handling for Schools This course provides the participants with the knowledge required to complete manual handling within the school safely. On completion of this training the participant with have an appropriate understanding of the following: What is Manual Handling? The anatomy of the back, including types of injuries Manual Handling can cause Recognise and employ good lifting and moving techniques The factors that must be considered when carrying out Manual Handling activities. All staff. 30 minutes. 13

RIDDOR Reporting in Schools This course will provide those schools who have to complete RIDDOR reports a suitable understanding of the regulations. The aim of the course is to provide the participants with the knowledge to understand the following: RIDDOR requirements Near-misses & dangerous occurrences Record keeping. The person responsible for RIDDOR reporting in the school. The Head Teacher / Principal and Governors. This course is not suitable for Local Authority controlled schools where accident reports are passed to the LA for completion of RIDDOR reports if required. 30 45 minutes. 14

Risk Assessment Training for Schools Art Department The aim of this course is to provide the Head of Department and or those given the responsibility, the knowledge and confidence to complete suitable and sufficient risk assessments for activities completed within the department. Those who complete the course will be able to carry out and or amend risk assessments within their department. Head of Department, teachers and support staff within the Art department. 45 minutes - 1 hour. 15

Risk Assessment Training for Schools Design and Technology The aim of this course is to provide the Head of Department and or those given the responsibility, the knowledge and confidence to complete suitable and sufficient risk assessments for activities completed within the department. Those who complete the course will be able to carry out and or amend risk assessments within their department. Head of Department, teachers and support staff within the Design and Technology department. 45 minutes - 1 hour. 16

Risk Assessment Training for Schools Educational Visits The aim of this training is to provide the participant with a practical understanding of how to carry out a risk assessment for an educational visit. Those who complete this course will be able to carry out and or amend risk assessments for educational trips. Teachers and support staff. 45 minutes - 1 hour. The Cost: This course is available as part of our elearning annual license which includes unlimited access to the full Health and Safety elearning Library for 1,385 plus VAT per annum. Alternatively, if your school subscribes to our annual Health and Safety Support Service, you will receive access to our entire health and safety elearning library at no extra cost. 17

Risk Assessment Training for Schools Food Technology The aim of this course is to provide the Head of Department and or those given the responsibility, the knowledge and confidence to complete suitable and sufficient risk assessments for activities completed within the department. Those who complete the course will be able to carry out and or amend risk assessments within their department. Head of Department, teachers and support staff within the Food Technology department. 45 minutes - 1 hour. 18

Risk Assessment Training for Schools General The aim of this course is to provide those given the responsibility, the knowledge and confidence to complete suitable and sufficient risk assessments for activities completed within the school. Those who complete the course will be able to carry out and or amend risk assessments within their school. Teachers and support staff. 45 minutes - 1 hour. 19

Risk Assessment Training for Schools - Performing Arts The aim of this course is to provide the Head of Department and or those given the responsibility, the knowledge and confidence to complete suitable and sufficient risk assessments for activities completed within the department. Those who complete the course will be able to carry out and or amend risk assessments within their department. Head of Department, teachers and support staff within the Performing Arts department. 45 minutes - 1 hour. 20

Risk Assessment Training for Schools Physical Education This course is to provide the Head of Department and or those given the responsibility, the knowledge and confidence to complete suitable and sufficient risk assessments for activities completed within the department. Those who complete the course will be able to carry out and or amend risk assessments within their department. Head of Department, teachers and support staff within the Physical Education department. 45 minutes - 1 hour. 21

Risk Assessment Training for Schools Premises Officer The aim of this course is to provide the Head of Department and or those given the responsibility, the knowledge and confidence to complete suitable and sufficient risk assessments for activities completed within the department. Those who complete the course will be able to carry out and or amend risk assessments within their department. Head of Department, teachers and support staff within the Premises department. 45 minutes - 1 hour. 22

Risk Assessment Training for Schools Science Department The aim of this course is to provide the Head of Department and or those given the responsibility, the knowledge and confidence to complete suitable and sufficient risk assessments for activities completed within the department. Those who complete the course will be able to carry out and or amend risk assessments within their department. Head of Department, teachers and support staff within the Science department. 45 minutes to 1 hour. 23

Stress Management in Schools for Employees This provides school employees with information required to give them an understanding of stress. It gives staff sufficient knowledge in order to enable them to recognise signs of stress which may be due to personal and or workplace issues. The course provides ideas of how personal stress can be managed. The aim of this course is to provide the tools /skills / information for employees to manage their own stress. The course will provide staff with the following: Definition of stress How to spot the signs of stress; understanding the importance of selfawareness when managing personal stress The importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle Identifying appropriate interventions for managing personal stress Showing employees where to get help and support. Designed for all school employees. 45 minutes - 1 hour. 24

Stress Management in Schools for Head Teachers This course provides school leaders with the information and knowledge required to suitably manage workplace stress. The training explains the HSE approach to stress management using the Management Standards. The aim of the course is to provide the tools / skills / information for school leaders to manage stress with the employee team. Those completing the course will develop an understanding of their role and responsibilities for managing work-related stress. The course will provide the following: A definition of stress Information required to spot the signs of stress How to deal with staff who are showing signs of stress An understanding of the HSE Management Standards for work-related stress How to undertake a stress risk assessment Ability to identify appropriate interventions for managing stress An understanding of the management competencies in preventing and dealing with stress. Designed for School Leaders Head Teachers / Principals. School Leaders should complete the training and cascade down to line managers if required. This course can be made available to all managers if required. 45 minutes - 1 hour. 25

Water Management in Schools (Premises Officer Refresher Course) This course will provide a refresher for those who have previously completed an instructor led Water Management course. The aim of the course is to provide you with the knowledge to understand the following: What is the Legionella Bacteria Where and how does it multiply How is it spread and contracted How to comply to the law Duties, obligations and records Assessing risk Controlling and reducing risk Methods of Treatment Prevention and disinfection Record keeping. Premises Officers who have previously completed an instructor led Water Management course. 30-45 minutes. accredited certificate to download. The course equates to around 1 hour of CPD. 26

Working at Height (Basics) for Schools This course provides the participant with the knowledge and training to be able to complete Basic Working at Height. This will enable the employer to demonstrate that appropriate training has been provided for the use of stepladders and stools. On completion of this training the participant with have an appropriate understanding of the following: What constitutes working at height Equipment for low level work at height Working at height risks and hazard controls How to use equipment safely Inspecting stepladders and pre-use checks. Teachers and support staff who are required to complete Basic Working at Height (using stepladders and stools) as part of their duties. 30 minutes. 27

Working at Height in Schools (Premises Officer Refresher Course) This course is a refresher for an employee who has completed an instructor led Working at Height course in the past. The course will remind participants of the safe use access equipment and update them on any new regulations / guidance. The aim of the course is to provide you with the knowledge to understand the following: What constitutes work at height Work at height risk and hazard controls Working at Height Equipment - step ladders and ladders How to use equipment safely Inspection and Maintenance of ladders and pre-use checks Awareness of other access equipment Working on roofs. This course does not provide training or certification to allow participants to work on or assemble Tower Scaffolds or work on / with Mobile Elevated Platforms. Premises Officers or support staff who have previously completed an instructor led Working at Height course. 30-45 minutes. 28
