It's especially helpful for youth who'd like to try a project without committing themselves. There are still class spaces available. If you have class or instructor recommendations, please contact Laura Huber at laura.huber@ces.uwex.edu. Watch your email in mid November for course and registration information. Registration will be via 4honline. The registration deadline will be Friday, December 30th. Welcome Laura Huber!! Hello! I've accepted a temporary program advisor position with Wood County 4-H and couldn't be more excited! Please allow me a moment to introduce myself. My name is Laura Huber. You may have seen me around as a volunteer at Project Discovery Day or as a former leader of Pittsville Cloverbuds. Maybe you've seen me more recently promoting Wood County 4-H STEM Project. I count myself among 4-H's loudest cheerleaders. Over the course of the next year, I'll be working hard to expand STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) learning opportunities here in Wood County. I'll continue leading the 4-H STEM Project, but will be taking the message on the road as well. I've already begun scheduling events to introduce others to STEM opportunities within 4-H. In fact, if your club would like to learn more, give me a call! I'm a wildlife biologist by training, but a science and math nerd by sheer luck. I am so excited to be working with the Wood County 4-H program! I hope to work with you soon. Laura Huber 2016 Youth Conference On June 20, 2016, Lily Kloos, Sara Snortheim, Lydia and Faith Kildahl traveled to Madison, Wisconsin to attend the Wisconsin 4-H & Youth Conference Program along with Laura Strigel as an adult volunteer. We stayed at the University of Madison dorms for three days to learn about community service, communication skills, leadership skills and other lifetime skills. We had a choice of touring Camp Randall, Kohl Center, State Capital and different locations throughout the University on our first day. We also learned how to exchange ideas and form friendships with youth from different backgrounds. There were many different activities that we did that were just for fun. There were two presenters that talked about the value of embracing difference and empowering youth to reach their full potential and how to live an action packed life. Submitted by Lily Kloos & Sara Snortheim
