Dear Community Partner, Wiregrass Georgia Technical College has exciting news to share with you about several career day events planned for our campuses for middle and high school students during the 2016-2017 school year! Enclosed is a flyer detailing each event. The dates of each are listed below: GET WIRED T&I/Construction/Culinary/Cosmetology! GET WIRED Coffee! GET WIRED Health & Public Safety! Geekfest GET WIRED Ben Hill-Irwin! Each of these events will be fun and festive, offering activities that showcase Wiregrass programs and their potential employment opportunities. Planning is underway for each event, and we hope you will be a part by hosting an educational activity and/or financial support through a sponsorship. With your help, each of these events will be a huge success! This past school year, Wiregrass hosted nearly 3,350 middle and high school students from around the Wiregrass service area at these events, so this is an excellent opportunity to get your business in the spotlight. A list of sponsorship and participation opportunities is enclosed. Lunch will be served at all events! Events GET WIRED T & I/Construction/Culinary/Cosmetology! This event is designed for any students interested in learning about our Technical and Industrial programs. Students will be doing handson activities in programs such as Welding, Automotive Technology, Machine Tool Technology, Computer Engineering, Construction, Culinary, and Cosmetology. Major employers and leading industry professionals will be on campus giving students real-life experience with interactive activities. GET WIRED Coffee! This event is designed to showcase ALL programs currently offered on the Coffee Campus, and we plan to showcase our new building at the event. Students will be doing hands-on activities, and the day is sure to be very educational and fun! Industry professionals will also be on hand that day to share real world employment information with the students in attendance. GET WIRED Health & Public Safety! This event will showcase all of our state-of-the-art Allied Health and Public Safety programs including the Associate of Science in Nursing (RN), Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, EMS Professions, Medical Assisting, Opticianry, Paramedicine, Pharmacy Technology, Practical Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Surgical Technology, Esthetics and Criminal Justice. Local employers will be on hand to work with students to help them understand the vast careers available in the healthcare industry. Students will be able to participate in fun and interactive activities that will help them learn a lot about careers in health and public safety. Geekfest This is an event designed for students to exhibit their inner geek Geekfest is a fun day aimed at showcasing our Business and Computer Science programs. Students will be allowed to do hands-on activities in the areas of Accounting, Applied Business Technology, Banking and Finance, Business Administrative Technology, Business Management, Computer Programming, Computer Support Specialist, Digital Media (Video) Specialist, Gaming Development, Health Information Technology, Information Security Specialist, Marketing Management, Networking Specialist, Technical Specialist, Web Site Design, Design and Media Technology, and Early Childhood Education. Industry representatives will be on campus to provide fun and educational activities for students. GET WIRED Ben Hill-Irwin! This event is designed to showcase ALL of the programs we currently offer on the Ben Hill-Irwin Campus. Students will be doing hands-on activities, and the day is sure to be very educational and fun! Industry professionals will also be on hand that day to share real world employment information with the students in attendance. All events will run between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Most activities can be completed in about 2 hours, so we are allowing flexibility as to what time schools arrive and depart.
