SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP NEWSLETTER MARCH 2009 Seniors and Parents, We are entering the final nine weeks of your high school years! These last few weeks are going to be filled with so many fun events, from your Senior Year Prom to Spring Break, and Grad Nite in Orlando to End of the Year Senior Banquets and Picnics. Through it all, please do not forget that you need to remain focused on your academic work. I want you to enjoy your time at Socastee High School, but I also want you to be prepared for Graduation and moving on to College. There are a lot of great scholarships remaining. Keep searching online for those scholarships that are advertised here. It s not too late to apply, but you need to get on it right away. Many opportunities can pass you by if you don t take the time or put forth the effort to find the money to pay for school. If you have not applied for FAFSA you must do it NOW!! Get your tax information and go online to www.fafsa.ed.gov. Please do not delay on this any longer. It could mean the difference between attending the school of your choice or not attending at all. See me if you still have concerns. At the end of this newsletter I am attaching an application for the Socastee High School Scholarships. Every year this high school awards over $20,000 in scholarships to the graduating class. EVERY SENIOR is eligible to apply for this money!! If you do not have any other money in scholarships you should apply. Be sure to attach a current senior photo to your application!! Do not give up on your Senior Year now!! Teachers are still taking attendance and colleges are still reviewing your final transcript. Even if you have received an acceptance letter, a school may revoke it due to poor attendance or low grades at the end of the year. Do not let your attendance, discipline, or poor grades get in the way of graduation. I am very proud of this entire class and I want to do everything I can to help you succeed, but I cannot do it for you. Please let me know if you are struggling or if you need help. As a reminder, this newsletter will no longer be mailed to your home. As always, you can access it online in two formats at sh.horrycountyschools.net, and I ll always be glad to e-mail one with active links to any e-mail account. Please feel free ask.
