South Carolina TRiO Presents: WHBSLC 2018: Leadership 20/20: Your Future In Focus January 12-14, 2018 Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Dear TRIO Colleague: 2018 WHBSLC Outstanding Young TRIO Alumni Award The WHBSLC Committee will award the Outstanding Young TRIO Alumni Award to three TRIO Alumni (1 recent high school graduate, 1 recent college graduate & 1 working professional). The WHBSLC Outstanding Young TRIO Alumni Award was created to recognize TRIO Alumni for their accomplishments and service. The winners of the award have distinguished themselves as leaders among their peers and in their community. They have served in their high schools, TRIO programs, colleges, neighborhood and communities and have made a significant difference in the lives of others. The Outstanding Young TRIO Alumni will be recognized for their leadership qualities during the WHBSLC Luncheon on Saturday, January 13, 2018. We encourage you to nominate former TRIO Program participants who you feel deserve to be recognized for doing outstanding things. The deadline for the 2018 Outstanding Young TRIO Alumni nominations is November 17, 2017. Criteria for Selection of the Outstanding Young TRIO Alumni Candidates Category # 1 (2017 High School Graduate) The TRIO Alumni candidate must be a former TRIO project participant who was enrolled in and successfully completed a Pre-Collegiate TRIO program in 2017. The pre-collegiate alumnus must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution. Category # 2 (2017 College Graduate) The TRIO Alumni candidate must be a former TRIO project participant who was enrolled in and successfully completed a postsecondary program of study in 2017. Category # 3 (Working Professional) The TRIO Alumni candidate must be a former TRIO project participant and a working professional (5 years or less) who was enrolled in and successfully completed a postsecondary program of study.
Nomination Information: Participation in the TRIO program must have had a significant impact upon the candidate in obtaining his/her educational and/or professional objectives. The person nominating the candidate must be aware of their involvement in the TRIO program. The nominator does not have to be a current TRIO professional. Each SC TRIO Program may nominate only one Alumnus for each category. The WHBSLC Outstanding Young TRIO Alumni packet must be emailed to the chairperson on or before the deadline of November 17, 2017.
