Faculty/Staff Development Awards Canton College Foundation Grants Programs The Canton College Foundation currently provides grants under the Faculty/Staff Development Awards Program. All faculty and professional staff employed at SUNY Canton are eligible to apply. These funds are made possible by the contributions of alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and friends of the Canton College Foundation. The Faculty/Staff Development Review Committee is composed of the Vice President for Advancement, the Provost, and faculty members who are also members of the Canton College Foundation s Board of Directors. An applicant's donor status (not amount) may be considered in proposal review. Faculty/Staff Development Awards: Awards will be made to foster professional development opportunities for faculty and staff. Tuition costs are not eligible for Faculty/Staff Development Award funding. This grant program seeks to: Encourage innovation in current instruction/programs Encourage development of new courses or programs Encourage research in specialized areas of interest Encourage presentation of scholarly papers Assist with attendance at seminars or short courses Maintain currency in one's field Proposal Requirements and Timelines: The maximum award to an individual or team is $2,000 per year. Application deadlines are: September 21 November 15 January 15 March 15 M ay 1 Notification of awards will be made approximately one month after application deadlines. Each proposal package must contain the following information: Completed Joint Proposal Application and budget forms A narrative description of not more than four single-spaced, typed pages A narrative on the connection of your project to your field of study/department Any other supporting documentation necessary including conference information, accreditation of programs, signed T1s required for travel, etc. If applying for an IDAP tuition award, please attach your current tuition bill. A project summary report is due to the Canton College Foundation and Provost within one month of completion of the funded activity.
Departmental Approvals: Department or School financial support is encouraged. The proposal needs to be reviewed by the applicant's Department Chair and School Dean and their signatures are required. It is necessary that applicants provide those individuals with enough time to thoroughly review the proposal before the application deadline. Incomplete proposals will not be reviewed. IDAP Awards Guidelines The types of support available include: Eligibility: Registration fees for conference or workshop. Consumable supplies (paper, pens, postage, etc.). Non-consumable supplies (books, software, etc.). Travel and related expenses (includes lodging and meals). Research support (e.g., computer time, network access or support, clerical support). Equipment lease or purchase. Tuition at the maximum allowable SUNY rate at the time of application. Full-time or part-time employees. The proposed project or activity must: o Enable the employee to meet one or more of the criteria specified in Title A. Evaluation of Academic Employees, 4. Criteria (a) - (e); Title B. Promotion of Academic Employees, 2. Criteria (a) - (e); or Title C. Evaluation and Promotion of Professional Employees, 5. Criteria (a) - (e), of Article XII Evaluation and Promotion of Academic and Professional Employees, of the Policies of the Board of Trustees. o Meet particular areas of interest or activities within the categories eligible for support as identified by the Campus Professional Development Committee. * Projects or activities must fall within the following categories: Basic, applied, or historical research. Curriculum or instructional material development. Workshop, seminar, internship, or course work not covered by Article 46, Program for Tuition Assistance or SUNY tuition waiver. Conference participation or attendance. Preparation of material for publication. Grant proposal development. Artistic or creative endeavors. Professional reading or independent study. Other work-related professional development projects or activities. Applications are reviewed by the IDAP Committee.
