Welcome to the 2018 Career Samplers GEN0192 CULINARY REALITY SERIES Please review the attached information and daily schedule for an overview of what to expect during your Culinary Reality career sampler. Please complete this form and return to our office prior to the Career Sampler Students meet each day in the Restaurant International lobby in Building H. Your Chef/Instructor will meet you there and lead you to your assigned kitchen lab. A map of Algonquin College has been included for your convenience. DAILY SUPPLY CHECKLIST Kitchen attire each day, for your safety and proper sanitation: Closed toe/heel shoes (no flip-flops, sandals etc.) Shirts with sleeves (no tank tops) Pants (no shorts/skirts) To bring each day: Lunch, snacks and water bottle (for morning and afternoon breaks) Container (there may be culinary creations to take home!) ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT NOTES TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS DROP-OFF/PICK-UP: Classes start at 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. Students are supervised for those six hours (including over the lunch break) but not before 9 a.m. or after 3 p.m. ALLERGIES: Algonquin College is not an allergen free facility. In particular, our culinary courses/programs take place in industrial kitchen labs utilizing food items purchased from industry suppliers. We cannot guarantee ingredients within products. Nuts, dairy and other potential allergens may be present in the food products and kitchen facilities. ABSENCE: If a student will be absent or must leave prior to the scheduled class end time, parents/guardians must give permission through a signed and dated note to be given to the instructor. Your culinary tour of Greece includes Dolmades Stuffed Grape Vine Leaves Moussaka Sis Kebab with Tzatziki Sauce Lamb and Vegetable Skewers 1:00-3:00 p.m. Lunch Break in the cafeteria guided Back to the Kitchen!

WEDNESDAY Lesson 3 9:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. Experience Thailand Starting the Day Right Finnish Style Breakfast Crepes with Banana and Cream Cheese Savour some Thai favourites! Your culinary exploration of Thailand includes Green Papaya Salad Hot and Spicy Shrimp Soup Roasted Thai Chicken Lunch Break in the cafeteria guided Back to the Kitchen! 1:00p.m. -3:00p.m. THURSDAY Lesson 4 9:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. The Pastry Chefs Apprentice Starting the Day Right Mile High French Toast Chef s Choice! 1:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m. Your Chef will guide you through the basics of baking and pastry details to be advised during class! FRIDAY Lesson 5 9:00 a.m. 12:00 pm. ALGONQUIN IRON CHEFS Cook Off! Impress parents/guests with a sampling of your culinary creations! By utilizing the skills you have gained, you will recreate some of your Culinary Reality Series favourites. Lunch Break in the cafeteria guided 1:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. MEET THE PARENTS - SHOW AND TELL! Skilled students present learning outcomes to their parents/guests after a fun week of experiential learning. In addition, each student will receive their personalized Algonquin College Certificate of Achievement.
