Indiana Award For Excellence Winners At left, Senator Ed Charbonneau, congratulates Alex Schreier (PHS on left) and Matt Mues (VHS) on their selections as Indiana Award for Excellence winners. Alex Schreier (PHS) is presently a Health Occupations Student; he attended our Medical Terminology class as junior. Matt Mues (VHS) is a Criminal Investigations student and formerly attended our Criminal Justice class. The Award for Excellence is the highest award presented in Indiana to a student in a career and technical program. Local Manufacturing Companies Invite Educators To their Factories A large, a medium, and a small manufacturing plant organized a tour of their facilities for local educators to address the need for workforce education in schools. Task Force Tips, Custom Crimp, and King Headz opened their facilities and discussed their hiring needs with a tour of 15 regional educators. Highlights of the experience were to see many Career and Technical Education students experiencing success at these employers. - 3 -
Pictured (l-r) below are David Muniz, TJE principal, Matt Williams (Morgan Twp senior) and Robert Jimenez (Chesterton HS junior) Our Horticulture and Landscape Design class taught by Mrs. Sutherlin, have partnered with Thomas Jefferson Elementary and Memorial Elementary, and both school's PTO to do gardens. At TJE, the students are designing and installing a butterfly garden that the elementary teachers will be able to use in science classes. At Memorial, students are redesigning a memorial garden. - 4 -
Health Careers students took a trip to Opportunity Enterprises to find out the things they do and the careers available at OE. Children are living messages we send to a time and place we will never see.
