Condition: In an Operational Environment (OE), given an EOD incident that falls within the guidelines of the Munitions Rule outlined in CFR 40, EOD specific tools and equipment, appropriate protective ensembles, and chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high-yield explosives (CBRNE) detection and monitoring sets. This task should not be trained in MOPP 4. Standard: Identify hazardous waste of military munitions and disposition following all applicable guidelines as described in CFR 40. Performance Steps 1. Identify the potential hazardous waste (munition). 2. Request applicable permits for storage IAW CFR 40 Part 270. (if needed) 3. Determine type of waste based on the condition of the munition. a. Used or Fired Munition. b. Unused munitions. c. Munitions used for intended purposes. 4. Transport hazardous waste (munition) according to CFR 40 Parts Subpart M Para. 266.203. 5. Store hazardous waste (munition) as described by Title 40 CFR 266.205. 6. Treat and dispose of hazardous waste (munition) as described by RCRA Title 40 CFR Parts 260-270. (Asterisks indicates a leader performance step.) Evaluation Guidance: Score the Soldier GO if all performance measures are passed. Score the Soldier NO GO if any step is failed. If the Soldier fails any step, show or tell him/ her, what he/she did incorrectly and how to do it correctly. Evaluation Preparation: Setup: Evaluate this task during training session, gather all necessary materials, and ensure that it is in good condition. Provide different samples or training aids to simulate (insert task). Brief Soldier that he/she will be evaluated on the task of implementing the Military Munitions Rule during an EOD response.
