Statements & Search Criteria Mission Habitat for Humanity Powhatan's mission is to build and preserve affordable housing, partnering with lower income residents who live or work in Powhatan County. Our secondary mission is to provide individuals and groups a constructive opportunity to give back to their community and add meaning to their lives. Background Habitat - Powhatan was founded by the Reverend Robert Partlow in 2001. Since our founding we have built 12 homes for lower income Powhatan residents. We have also served families internationally by tithing to HFHI. After our first 3 homes were built land prices in Powhatan became overly expensive and we were unable to continue our mission for 3 years. The board decided to hire a part time executive director whose focus was to find affordable land and continue the building program. In 2008 those objectives were achieved with the purchase at the county tax auction of 8 potential building lots and construction of home #4 began. We have since received 3 additional lot donations and purchased two others. Families for homes 5-12 have been selected and the homes completed. We broke ground for house 13 in June 2018 and will break ground for house 14 before September 2018. We ave renovated a long disused firehouse which we are renting from the county for $1.00 per year. Through generous contributions and volunteer workers we are opening a Habitat Store for in July to resell mostly building materials which are continuously being donated. We hired out first full-time executive director, Roseleen Rick, who started on June 1, 2018. We have also hired an hourly volunteer coordinator. We are moving forward!! Impact Accomplishments: 1.Groundbreaking for.muncey Home - June 2018 2.Completed 'critical repairs' for more than 24 Powhatan families Goals: 1.Complete home #13. 2.Raise $175,000 3.Serve more families through the 'Critical Repair' program Needs 1.Money 2. People: Volunteers: Engage more Powhatan churches and individuals in the construction of home #113. Locate more qualified applicants to partner with. 3. Land in Powhatan at a low cost or donated. CEO/Executive Director Statement I have lived in Powhatan since 1992 and have seen both the need for safe and affordable housing and have witnessed the generosity and kindness of the Powhatan community. Habitat for Humanity - Powhatan is on the cusp of being able to move forward with more builds and more critical repairs. 2

Board Chair Statement I choose to continue to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity Powhatan for several reasons. First, it allows me to experience the great satisfaction that comes from helping deserving families in need and witnessing their great appreciation for both what is done for them and the fact that there are people that care. Second, I appreciate Habitat for Humanity s policy of selecting families that are in need but are also willing to work alongside the volunteers in the construction of their home. Families learn a good work ethic, the responsibilities associated with home ownership and the value of helping others. Finally, volunteering for HFHP gives me the opportunity to interact with members of the community who share an interest in helping others. Our challenges tend to fall into four categories. Locating qualified applicants, building lots, money and/or volunteers. As of July 2015 our most pressing need is land. We only have one more building lot remaining and by this time next year we will have no land to build affordable housing on. Areas Of Service Areas Served Areas Powhatan County Habitat-Powhatan presently serves all of Powhatan County. Service Categories Housing Development, Construction & Management 3

Programs Programs Affordable home building Description We partner with lower income families in Powhatan County to build and preserve affordable housing. Together we build new homes and perform critical repairs on owner occupied homes. For new homes families are selected based on housing need, credit worthiness, ability to pay and ability to be a good partner. For critical repairs families are selected based on the severity and urgency of the repair and their ability to pay for it to be fixed. Budget $0.00 Long term Success Short Term Success Our long term success will be measured by how many families we help achieve the goal of affordable home ownership. Our short tern success will be measured by how many families we help preserve their homes so they can live in them safely. 4

The reason being when the affiliate was first established in 2001 it was all volunteers and the board and committees performed 100% of the work. In 2007 the board hired the first part-time executive director and from that point on the work load shifted to this position and away from the board. Today the board is much more engaged and the committees are functioning at a high level. The advisory board is focused on identifying qualified board candidates, creating a habitat community in Powhatan County and fundraising. 6

Our goal over the last 6 years was raise enough funds to build 8 homes so that the mortgage income will pay all of our administrative expenses. With the completion of our 12th home this year that goal has been reached. Going forward most of the funds we raise can go for programs. 9
