Two Klamath Basin students will be awarded local scholarships move on to the next level of completion. The selection criteria includes scholarship, leadership and financial need. Academic, honors and awards, leadership and extracurricular activities are considered. Applicants must be US citizens and need not be related to an Elks member. College students are excluded. 7 Oregon State Elks Vocational Grant- The Elks Association is offering a $1,400 grant to senior students who are planning to attend a Vocational/Technical School. This grant is not for students planning to earn a Bachelor's degree at a university. 2015 Gates Millennium program- This renewable scholarship is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. To be eligible, students must: 1. Be African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American. 2. Seniors can go to 17 http://www.oregonstudentaid.gov to set up their student profiles, Early Bird search for scholarship and begin the online application. A 7th 2/15/2015 semester transcript is required for this application and it must be Last uploaded to the online application. Students should submit a deadline written request to the guidance office to have their transcript 3/1/2015 emailed to themselves. The final OSAC deadline is March 1, 2015. Early bird priority deadline is February 15, 2015. Statewide 18 19 Associated Oregon Loggers Inc. Non-Member - Applicants must submit and application form, an original essay on "What challenges do you see in the field of logging and what are your views on meeting the challenges", high school transcripts, SAT or ACT scores, and an acceptance letter to a four year college which is accredited by the Society of American Foresters. Selection criteria include candidates studies and experiences, scholastic performance, essay quality, and legibility, neatness and accuracy of information submitted.
