ALBERTA 2018-19 CADS Alberta Competition Zone-Club Program Application for Funding Support Each CADS Alberta Zone can operate a Zone-Club competition program that encompasses alpine skiing and/or snowboard. The expectation on each Zone-Club is that instructional/coach support be provided with a demonstration of an annual plan that will be followed. The plan can be developed with the support of the CADS Alberta Program Director to ensure it meets the realistic needs of the Zone-Club participant/athletes who are interested in pursuing the competition stream. Zones are encouraged to ask for collaborative support in preparing and submitting their applications. Funding requests to CADS Alberta fall under three areas: Coaching Support Equipment Travel for Training and/or Competitions CADS Alberta will develop a fund pool that will be allocated to Zone-Club programs based on the plan as presented, and the specific need request. This program will provide a subsidy on a ratio basis to all Zone-Club applications that are submitted. The deadline for submission of an initial application for the 2018-19 competition season is August 1, 2018. Section 1 (Coaching) funding approval would be completed by August 1, 2018. Additional funding may be made available for Sections 2 and 3 which is dependent upon available funding support from CADS Alberta. To be considered for Section 2 and 3 funding, an updated competition plan would be required no later than September 15, 2018. The following must be completed as part of the application requirements and submitted to programdirector@cadsalberta.ca. CADS Alberta Zone-Club Competition Program Funding Application 2018-19 1

Section 1: Coaching To assist each CADS Zone-Club, the following is a payment template for coaching support for a competition program in either alpine skiing or snowboard, or a combined coaching resource. The schedule is based on 3 categories of coach: Learn to Train (Typically participants/athletes up to age 13, although this will vary based on age of experience versus chronological age) Train to Train (Typically athletes over 14 years of age, although again dependent on age of experience) Learn to Compete (Typically World Para-Alpine or Para-Snowboard licensed athletes, allowing competition in Alberta, across Canada when available, and internationally, with a focus on competitions at a Continental Cup level in either Canada or the USA) The levels of Train to Compete, Learn to Win and Train to Win would transition to a linkage with competition programs within Alpine Canada Alpin or Canada Snowboard at the developmental level (targeted prospect athletes). CADS Alberta in supporting the Zone-Club programs is focused on the three proposed development levels that allow coaching support to be targeted, strategic, and in parallel to the development of participant/athletes at that stage. The average monetary support afforded coaches certainly can vary, but CADS Alberta has created a gradational scale to reflect the number of training days relative to the athlete level of development: Development Level No of Days* Per Diem Rate Annual Coaching Cost Learn to Train 40 maximum $100 / day ($150 max) $4,000.00 (Paid per diem) Train to Train 40 maximum $150 / day ($200 max) $6,000.00 (Paid per diem) Learn to Compete 40 maximum $150 to $250 $4,000 - $6,000 (Contract) *The maximum number of days indicated is provided as a measurable baseline. The 40 days maximum is very atypical, and Zone-Club programs should plan on a number of days that will generally be far less. The 40 days would include both on and off snow training and competition. Note that the above is a guideline to provide Zone-Club programs a planning mechanism for funding consideration. The CADS Alberta guideline for support of a Zone-Club program is: Learn to Train o Minimal coaching experience, Entry Level Trained - $100 / day o Multi-year experienced coach, Entry Level Trained/Certified - $150 / day Train to Train o Minimal coaching experience, Entry Level Trained - $150 / day o Multi-year experienced coach, Entry Level Trained/Certified - $250 / day CADS Alberta Zone-Club Competition Program Funding Application 2018-19 2

Learn to Compete o Minimal coaching experience, Development Level Trained - $250 / day o Multi-year experienced coach, Development Level Trained/Certified - $300 / day Additional Coach Financial support requests can include: Season Passes to local Zone-Club training site Mileage to competitions Assistant Coach season pass support (Learning opportunity) Zone-Clubs may opt out of season passes, as they may receive a pass as part of employment at the area at which they coach already The above elements will be reviewed based on a budget submission for expected coaching for the 2018-19 season. As mentioned, the deadline for application is June 23, 2018. For CADS Zone-Club Applications, the following information is required: Coach Name: Coach Certification (CSCF, CASI or CSIA): Athlete(s) Level (Check all that apply): Active Start (Learn to Train) - (Zone-Club Nancy Greene affiliation or CADS Program only) Development (Train to Train) - (Zone Club Train and/or compete at areas other than the home Zone-Club program) Advanced (Zone-Club athletes with World Para-Alpine or World Para-Snowboard Licenses) Cost Estimate for Coaching (CADS Alberta Program Director can assist with estimates): CADS Alberta Zone-Club Competition Program Funding Application 2018-19 3
