Bring your regalia. 9:00 a.m. Commencement Robing and Reception in the Trail Room, Templeton Center (or in Pamplin Room 0, in case of rain call; located on the lower level of Pamplin entering the building, the room is immediately to the left of the outside door leading to the football stadium). 9:40 a.m. At the direction of the faculty marshals, move to road between Gregg Memorial Pavilion and the Manor House Circle (or to Pamplin Reception Desk, if rain call ). 9:50 a.m. Processional: Honor the candidates for degrees as they pass and then join in the processional with other faculty members following the candidates and faculty marshals. 0:00 a.m. Ceremony: Following the conferral of the Ed.S. degrees, Dean Fletcher will say: President Wiewel, it gives me great pleasure to present Lewis & Clark s candidates for the Degree of Doctor of Education in Leadership from the Graduate School of Education and Counseling. Will the candidates for the Degree of Doctor of Education in Leadership please rise. As soon as President Wiewel confers their degrees, Dean Fletcher will instruct the candidates to come forward. As a committee chair, you will rise at this time and stand with your doctoral candidate; they will hand you their hood. As they proceed up the ramp to the stage, you will follow them, stopping at Dean Fletcher. The candidate will turn to face the audience; you will place the hood over their head. They will then be congratulated by the dean, will receive their diploma, and will then exit the stage with you following. You may return to your seat or remain on the stage in order to repeat the process, if you have multiple candidates to hood. :30 a.m. Recessional: Following the bagpiper, mace bearer, platform party, and faculty marshals (Lana Kim and Dawn Montgomery), join in the recessional. Morning All staff, platform party members, and vendors arrive to campus and to their designated locations as scheduled, with the following exceptions: Mark Mullaney (bagpiper) report to Pamplin Graduates, Student Marshals, & Stamm Team report to Pamplin Hall of Fame Hallway Faculty and Faculty Marshals report to Pamlin Room 0 9:40 a.m. Mace Bearer Carol Doyle moves to Pamplin Reception Desk, joining the bagpiper. Faculty--At the direction of faculty marshals Lana Kim and Dawn Montgomery, faculty move to Pamplin Reception Desk. Platform Party--At the direction of host Murray Cizon, the Platform Party members take umbrellas (provided in Armstrong Lounge) and move to Pamplin Reception Desk. Upon arrival in Pamplin, members hand off their umbrellas to ushers and then assemble in front of the desk. Faculty and Platform Party members, in that order, line up on either side of the hallway by the reception desk so that they can honor candidates for graduation during the processional. 9:50 a.m. Processional Pamplin At the direction of Gena Perrine, Columbia Brass will cease playing and the bagpiper will begin playing outside under the overhang in front of the Pamplin processional entry door; the mace bearer will move to the entry door into the arena. After one song The bagpiper will process, by himself, to the front of Pamplin. He will stop on the floor in front of the podium, complete his song, and then exit the arena. As he completes his song, Columbia Brass starts playing the processional music.
