The Emerging Leader Fellowship brings together a cohort of IDA professionals from within the urban district management industry. The fellows learn essential leadership and place management skills, and gain practical tools in the areas of place-based economic development, the live-work-play experience, and public-private partnerships. As the name suggests, this program is aimed at those who have chosen urban district management as a career path, such as CEOs or executive directors of small to mid-sized organizations, or senior staff members with aspirations to lead their own organization. The inaugural 2016 cohort included 26 professionals hailing from three countries and 18 provinces or states. This wildly successful program is marketed to the entire IDA audience to ensure leaders are aware and can recommend their rising stars apply for one of the coveted slots. The program takes places June 11-16, 2017 in New York City, and includes instruction from partners at the Baruch College, City University of New York, the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and the Coro New York Leadership Center.
