OUTREACH INITIATIVES The following outreach initiatives were completed by the SEU during the reporting period: A. Hosting Job Fairs: 1. November 3, 216 - SEU hosted a job fair at the Station Square Sheraton. This included promoting the event by on-the-air announcements. The SEU posted the job fair on all three stations and Salem s facebook accounts. The SEU accepted and collected resumes and had some on the spot interviews. 2. March 3, 217 - SEU hosted a job fair at the Southpoint Hilton Garden Inn. This included promoting the event by on-the-air announcements and spots. The SEU posted the job fair on all three stations and Salem s facebook account. B. Job Fairs SEU participated in the following job fairs during the reporting period. The employment unit provided handouts, current job postings and provided information where possible candidates can access the company salemmedia.com web site to apply for open positions in the future. 1. C. Management Program: 1. The Salem Director of Human Resources conducts monthly HR Network Training sessions via teleconference and Powerpoint presentations, which includes review of EEO policies and compliance. The SEU s Business Manager participates in these training sessions each month and then routinely communicates with the SEU s General Manager and other management staff members to keep all employees apprised of the company and SEU s policy on equal employment. D. Training for Higher Level Positions 1. Social Media and Web Design employee s attended 2 (two) training seminars to acquire skills that could qualify them for higher-level positions within the stations Digital Marketing Seminar, Dex Media, May 24, 216 Grow Your Business, Marketing Tools, May 26, 216 E. Other Outreach Activities: 1. On-Air Advertising via a Virtual Job Fair Promotion The SEU promoted a virtual job fair designed to further the goal of disseminating information about employment opportunities. The SEU did on-air broadcasts providing information about job opportunities in broadcasting available at Salem as well as various job opportunities available with other local businesses in the community. Potential candidates who might not be able to attend a physical job fair are able to obtain current job opportunity information from these on-air advertisements, including how to access Salem s websites or the websites of other local businesses and employers to obtain information about employment opportunities. 2. June 13, 216 Station Tour Cub Scout Troop from Swissvale, PA Scoutmaster and 22 scouts toured the station and met radio personalities. 3. September 14, 216 Station Tour St. Bede s 5 th grade class of 21 students toured the station and met staff 4. November 15, 216 Station Tour City Mission of Pittsburgh had local participants (16) seeking job opportunities and training tour the station and speak to staff. OUTREACH INITIATIVES The following outreach initiatives were completed by the SEU during the reporting period: A. C. Other Outreach Activities: 1. Information about employment opportunities is displayed by the SEU at various community events the SEU attends. During this reporting period, the SEU was at the following community events: a. On April 9, 217, many of the SEU s staff attended the Trump s First 1 Days Event, Greensburg, PA. b. On May 18, 217 the General Sales Manager attended the Airport Chamber Breakfast, Moon Township, PA. c. On September 26, 217, The General Manager, Business Manager and Sales Manager attended the Pastor Appreciation Luncheon, Pittsburgh, PA. D. Job Banks The SEU participates in media related job banks and internet programs designed to provide general information about opportunities in broadcasting and to encourage individuals to consider future employment.
