Adult Programs Auburn Public Library Studio Attention Coloring Club Members, Fiber Friends, and all other creators, makers, and doers! Read and Reflect: Book Club for Seniors Join us at the Harris Senior Center for Read and Reflect, our monthly book club for seniors! Each month, we ll discuss a particular book that inspires, intrigues, or amazes, including both classic and contemporary works of fiction and nonfiction. Tuesday, April 24 Uncommon Type: Some Stories by Tom Hanks This is a collection of seventeen short stories from two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks. One story tells of a gentle Eastern European immigrant arrives in New York City after his family and his life have been torn apart by his country s civil war. In another, a man who loves to bowl rolls a perfect game--and then another and then many more in a row until he winds up ESPN s newest celebrity, and he must decide if the combination of perfection and celebrity has ruined the thing he loves. Also, an eccentric billionaire and his faithful executive assistant venture into America looking for acquisitions and discover a down and out motel, romance, and a bit of real life. Teen Programs Gamers Society It s Game On at the Auburn Public Library. The Programming Room will be open for Pokémon, board games, and video games. Gamers are responsible for the items they bring. Teen Writers Club: Poet-tea Series Do you love to write and tell stories? Looking to learn more and improve as a writer? Join the Teen Writer s Club at the Auburn Public Library. We will spend this series learning poetry writing techniques, storytelling exercises, and creating our own black-out poetry as we sip tea! Bring your imagination, laptop, pen, and paper, and create something new! Tea will be served at each meeting. Please note: There will be no meeting on April 11. Movie After celebrating Valentine s Day, join us at the library for a love story. We will be screening the movie, Loving. The story of Richard and Mildred Loving, a couple whose arrest for interracial marriage in 1960s Virginia began a legal battle that would end with the Supreme Court s historic 1967 decision. Saturday STEM Storytime Preschoolers 2 nd grade children and their caregivers are invited to join us for a storytime on Saturday mornings that is all about STEM. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. This storytime will focus on these concepts in a fun, interactive, story-driven format.
