March 1, 2017 Dear BEST Medicine Student Participant, The University of Akron would like to welcome you to our upcoming BEST Medicine Engineering Fair on Saturday, March 11 th at the NIHF STEM Middle School at 199 S. Broadway in Akron, Ohio. We are looking forward to an outstanding event where (i) patient-focused innovation is a common theme, and (ii) every participant walks away as a winner! Please review the following information regarding the agenda for the day of the event: Student check-in and project set-up is between 7:45a.m.-9:00a.m. at the NIHF STEM Middle School on Saturday, March 11 th, 2017. We will have two available entries to the building (see attached maps for more information): o o The front (west) entrance at 199 S. Broadway The back (east) entrance (facing the railroad tracks) which you can access by the Quaker Square Entrance on Broadway (we recommend that students use this entrance, enter through the door marked #7) Please check in at the registration table, found in the main lobby on level 1 prior to setting up your poster display. (Volunteers in blue T-shirts will assist you.) If you require any special resources (computers, electrical devices, etc.) we suggest that you bring your own extension cord. After setup, a light breakfast is available. Also after set-up is complete, feel free to visit the hands-on exhibits/informational booths in the gym on level 1. There are booths that will be of interest to both parents and students! Judging will take place from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Please plan to be next to your poster during the judging portion of the event (there will be breaks, please listen for the announcements). When you are at your poster and not being judged you will have the opportunity to participate in bonus competitions for additional prizes! (More information will be provided at the fair.) BEST Medicine Organizers will dismiss you for lunch at the Quaker Station. Lunch will be provided at 12:30 p.m., followed by a keynote speaker, and then the awards ceremony. We will be offering prizes in multiple categories, as well as specialty prizes including an allexpense paid trip to INTEL s International Science & Engineering Fair! Directions from the NIHF STEM Middle School to Quaker Station: o Go out Level 1 Entrance o Turn Left towards Quaker Square (0.2 miles) o Quaker Station will be in front of you You will be able to remove your poster after the awards ceremony or immediately following judging.
