Va. The Huskers will face No. 16 Navy on Jan. 21 and second-ranked West Virginia on Jan. 22. Both matches are set to begin at 7 a.m. Last Time Out The Huskers produced the two highest air rifle scores in school history last weekend. Faught dominates the UTM record books, holding the top three scores in both disciplines since the scoring change in 2005. Faught joins seniors Jaycee Carter and Rachel Martin as returning All-Americans on the 2016-17 team. The Huskers have only three upperclassmen in Faught, Carter and Martin. The Huskers welcome four newcomers to the team this season in Maddie Korthas, Samantha Peterson, Sarah Sutton and Kayla Gadeken. Gadeken becomes NU s first in-state rifle athlete since Sheena Mahloch, who was a member of the Nebraska rifle team from 2008 to 2012 The Huskers are looking for their fifth consecutive NCAA Championships appearance in 2016-17, which would tie the program record for most consecutive trips to the NCAA Championships. Last Time - NU Rolls Past Army West Point, 4,665-4,647 West Point, N.Y. --- For the second consecutive match, the Nebraska rifle team produced a strong air rifle score to earn a come-from-behind victory - this time over Army West Point on Jan. 16. The Huskers outshot the Black Knights by 20 points in air rifle to roll to a 4,665-4,647 win. Trailing 2,301-2,299 after smallbore, Nebraska needed to make up some ground in air rifle. The Huskers did just that. Rachel Martin (594), Nina Radulovic (593) and Dacotah Faught (593) each fired scores over 590, while Army West Point didn t have a single shooter score in the 590s. Jaycee Carter added 586, while Samantha Peterson pitched in 576 to help the Huskers win the air rifle battle 2,366-2,346 and cruise to almost a 20-point victory. In smallbore, Peterson and Faught led the way for the Huskers, firing 578 and 577, respectively. Radulovic added 576, while Martin and Carter each shot 568. Rachel Yager, competing individually, tied her career-high score of 575. Payne Nunn and Marvin Lewis led Army West Point in smallbore with 582 each, while Danielle Cuomo was the top scorer in air rifle with 589.

Head Coach Ashley MacAllister Ashley MacAllister was named the fifth rifle coach in the history of the Nebraska rifle program in July 2014. Assistant Coach Rick Johnson Rick Johnson was named the assistant rifle coach at Nebraska on Aug. 20, 2015. He begins his second season with the Huskers in 2016-17. In his first season at Nebraska, Johnson helped lead NU to its fourth consecutive NCAA appearance, where the team finished eighth. Johnson produced two All-Americans in Denise and Rachel Martin in 2015-16. Additionally, he helped the Huskers to a 8-6 regular-season record, along with a sixth-place finish at the GARC Championships in his debut season with Nebraksa. Prior to coming to Nebraska, Johnson served as the assistant coach at Army West Point for three seasons under head coach Ron Wigger from 2011 to 2014. During the 2014-15 season, Johnson was the acting head coach at Army West Point and helped mentor the team to a 7-6 record and a seventh-place finish at the GARC Championships. During his first year at Army West Point, Johnson played an instrumental part in the team s fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships. In the four years Johnson served as coach, the Black Knights finished 30-17 and made three NCAA appearances (2012-13-14). His peers rewarded his efforts by voting him the GARC Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. He was the CRCA Coach of the Year in 2014-15. Prior to working at Army West Point, Johnson founded a junior marksmanship program at Harvard in 2005. The program is meant for individuals 10-20 years old who are interested in competitive shooting.
