DTE Energy Public Forum on Power Outages DTE Energy has notified the City of Plymouth that they will host a public information forum to address the recent power outages and improvements to their systems. The meeting will take place on Friday, June 15th at the Plymouth Cultural Center. DTE Energy has provided the following statement: ************************************************************** DTE Energy sets a high standard when it comes to providing safe, reliable and affordable electric service. Recently, the dependability of electricity in your community has been beneath that standard and DTE Energy recognizes this is causing frustration for residents and businesses. We want you to know DTE Energy is taking action to fix the problem. We are currently implementing infrastructure upgrades designed to deliver more reliable electricity to the homes and businesses in the City of Plymouth. These upgrades include rebuilding the Plymouth substation, along with installing new equipment and technology. DTE representatives will be available on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Plymouth Cultural Center, 525 Farmer Street, Plymouth, to give you more information about the upgrades. Plymouths Host Joint Shred Event The City of Plymouth and Plymouth Township will offer a shred day for all residents of both communities on Saturday, June 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (or until trucks are filled) at the Plymouth Cultural Center located at 525 Farmer. Paper to be shredded shall be limited to 5 banker boxes on each trip. Residents can make multiple trips throughout the morning, however. Documents can be in paper bags or boxes when brought to shredding. Documents in plastic bags must be removed. Residents participating must also provide proof of City or Township residence which can be done with a driver s license, voter ID card, water bill, or property tax bill. SCORE workshop and business mentors at the library this summer The Plymouth District Library invites local entrepreneurs and small business owners to meet and utilize the mentorship assistance of SCORE professionals this summer. A website workshop is on the calendar, along with oneon-one free consultations. The workshop, Business Websites that help Grow Your Business, will take place on Thursday, June 14 at 6 p.m. SCORE mentor, Geraldine Jensen, will detail how a business website provides the perfect opportunity to showcase goods or services and to engage with current and potential customers. This workshop will help small business owners and entrepreneurs examine website potential, evaluate current websites and explore the many options available for building a new site. Ms. Jensen has expertise in website strategic planning, design, and development. She owns an online publishing company. Individual one-hour mentoring sessions will take place on these Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m.: June 20, 27, July 18, 25, August 8, 22, 29. Thursday sessions, also from 4-6 p.m. will take place on: June 14, 28, July 12, 26, August 2, 16, 30. These sessions will be conducted by area professionals through the Ann Arbor chapter of SCORE. Ann Arbor SCORE volunteers are experienced professionals with first-hand business knowledge who donate thousands of hours to help small businesses succeed. Mentors have expertise in many areas including accounting, finance, marketing, operations, sales, training, human resources, intellectual property, and the effective use of social media.
