Application Criteria - Implementing Career Cluster -based programs of study; - Maintaining effective employer and business partnerships; - Demonstrating alignment to rigorous and relevant college- and careerready expectations; - Demonstrating a clear progression of knowledge and skills and student transitions across secondary and postsecondary systems; - Integrating successful career guidance and advisement; - Highlighting alignment to workforce and employer needs in the community; - Providing concrete data on the program of study s impact on student achievement and success at both the secondary and postsecondary levels.

New Criteria - Additional questions about employer engagement - Additional requirement to include a letter of support from an employer or business partner

Winners Will Receive - A digital banner to use in email and print materials as they so choose; and - Travel and one hotel room for one night in Washington, DC for a representative to be recognized at an awards ceremony to be held the week of May 23, 2016.

Winners Will Be Featured In - A national press release, which will be distributed to national media. - A NASDCTEc webinar and/or at a national conference. - A standalone one-pager, used as part of NASDCTEc s federal advocacy toolkit. - A monthly newsletter sent to members of Congress. - A standalone blog on the Learning that Works blog. - The NASDCTEc website.

Award Timeline - Application Deadline: December 9, 2015 - Selection Committee Reviews Applications: December January - Announcement of 2016 award winners: February 23, 2016 - Winners honored at NASDCTEc Spring Meeting: May 2016

Foy H. Moody High School STEM Career Cluster Award Winner

A Brief History - The Innovation Academy for Engineering, Environmental & Marine Science Academy is housed at Foy H. Moody High School, Corpus Christi Independent School District, Texas. - 2006 Began with Corpus Christi Independent School District s T-STEM Grant application. - 2007 Design Team formed to develop Academy program using T-STEM Blueprint. - As the structure of the Academy developed, the mission of the program evolved.

Funding Initial funding to establish the unique programming in the Innovation Academy was provided by the: - Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation - Texas High School Project - Michael and Susan Dell Foundation - Texas Education Agency.

Program Goals 1. Increasing achievement through innovative and engaging instruction. 2. Providing an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning. 3. Instilling core values and desire to pursue lifelong education. 4. Graduating students who can contribute to and create solutions for an ever-changing society.

Program Goals Prepare students for college programs and careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). - Various engineering fields - Environmental Science - Any STEM-related program

Program Mission Offers rigorous plans of study to highly motivated students who: - Have the ability to excel academically. - Desire to develop their interests in specific global perspectives. Offers enriched plans of study to not-so-highly motivated students who will eventually: - Close the gaps among historically under-represented populations. - Help attract and retain a broad and diverse population of students.

Program Design - School-within-a school serving grades 6-12, Claude Cunningham Middle School and Foy H. Moody High School, both Title I schools. - 2007-2008 implementation year with 100 students per grade level (grades 6 and 9). - Consecutive grade levels added in following years until all grade levels represented in 2010.
