2018-2019 Peninsula College Foundation Scholarships Above & Beyond Scholarship One $1,000 scholarship This scholarship is named each year in honor of the exceptional faculty or staff member receiving the annual Above & Beyond award at Peninsula College. It is awarded to a student who exhibits exemplary activity and/or academic excellence. Must have and maintain a GPA of at least 3.5 Must be enrolled fulltime at Peninsula College Preference given to students who: o Demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence o Engage in exemplary behavior such as volunteerism or acts of heroism and make an outstanding contribution to the well-being of others and the community o Show exceptional initiative, perseverance, accountability or commitment in meeting or exceeding expectations or serving others o Exhibit creativity and imagination in activities and/or academics Scholarship must be applied to tuition, mandatory fees and books only Scholarship funds will be split evenly over each quarter of attendance, and will not be dispersed if the student s attendance or GPA drop below required levels. Student is encouraged to write a thank you note to donor. Barbara L. Noble and Dr. Joe W. Floyd Scholarship Three $2,000 scholarships Established in 2012 to fund scholarships in the following programs at Peninsula College: Automotive Technology, Composite Technology, Green Building, and Medical Assisting. Student must be enrolled fulltime at Peninsula College during award year, and in a two-year degree program listed above. Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.7 Preference will be given to students with financial need. Bussing-Mulledy Vocational Scholarship One $2,000 scholarship Established in 1989, by Chester T. Mulledy, to support vocational students at Peninsula College. This fund is a memorial tribute to his stepson James Michael Bussing, who attended Peninsula College. Must be enrolled fulltime at Peninsula College during award year. Pursuing a two-year vocational degree. Must have and maintain a minimum PC cumulative GPA of 3.00. Financial need will be a consideration. 2018-2019 PCF Nursing Scholarships Available as of 1/22/18

Chapter H.G, P.E.O Scholarship Two $700 scholarships Established in 2013, to assist women with financial need, and will be awarded to the student who best meets the following criteria: Must be a woman. Student must be enrolled full-time at Peninsula College. Must demonstrate through academic performance (grades) and/or test scores active involvement in the learning process (at least a B average). Preference will be given to students with financial need. During selection, equal weight and consideration given with the GPA. Must have a recommendation from a member of the high school or college faculty or staff. Clallam County School Retirees Association Isabel Whitfield Scholarship One $1,000 scholarship This scholarship supports a Peninsula College student seeking a career as a teacher, para-educator, or support personnel within the Washington State Public School System. Must be a Clallam County resident. Must be a senior graduating from a Clallam County high school. Preference is given to a student with an interest in seeking a career in becoming a teacher, para-educator, or any support staff associated with the WA State Public School System. Class of '63 & Friends Scholarship in Memory of Art Feiro One $1,000 scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to the student who best meets the following criteria: Must graduate or have graduated from a high school within Clallam or Jefferson County. Desire to pursue a STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math). Preference given to students with financial need. Donald Naddy Scholarship One $1,000 scholarship For students pursuing an education in Education, Medical, or Vocational Studies. Student must be attending or have completed their first year at Peninsula College at the time they submit the scholarship application. Must be enrolled half-time or greater at Peninsula College during award year. Preference given to Graduates from any Clallam or Jefferson County high school; Students who are veterans; Students pursuing a degree in the BAS program (or any future 4-year Peninsula College instructional program) with the hope of serving in the educational, medical, or vocational fields. Student is encouraged to write a thank you note to donor. Dorothy Whittenburg Scholarship One $250 scholarships Preference to a first time student with financial need who has delayed studies due to life circumstances. Ed Tisch Scholarship One $300 scholarship

This scholarship was created exclusively to fund scholarships for students interested in a science-related program at Peninsula College. The purpose is for financial aid above and beyond the funds given through the Financial Aid office. Must demonstrate through academic performance (grades) and/or test scores active involvement in the learning process (at least a B average). Must demonstrate a strong interest in the sciences. Special consideration will be given to students with an interest in botany, forest ecology and/or wildlife biology on the Olympic Peninsula. Must demonstrate a strong intention to enroll in a baccalaureate-level program as a Science major following completion of studies at Peninsula College. Scholarship will be divided and awarded fall winter and spring, provided recipient completes a minimum of 12 credits the preceding quarter. Field Scholarship One Full-Ride scholarship (up to $6,000) This fund provides one student per year with a full-ride scholarship to Peninsula College. o Based on available funds, the scholarship may provide tuition, mandatory fees, books, supplies, room/board, transportation, and miscellaneous expenses related to attendance. o If sufficient funds have accumulated in the endowment, additional scholarship(s) may be provided. This scholarship is automatically renewable for the second year at Peninsula College provided the awardee maintains eligibility. Student must attend Peninsula College on a full-time basis. Preference will be given to a transfer student in Language Arts/English or Music, followed by any other academic transfer major. Student must have/maintain a 3.0 GPA. Preference given to student with financial need. Awards will be divided evenly over all fulltime quarters attended at Peninsula College within the academic year for which the award is made. If a student completes graduation requirements at Peninsula College, continues to meet award criteria, and has demonstrated need, a portion of the available earnings from this endowment may be awarded for transfer scholarships, payable for up to two years after transfer from Peninsula College. Transfer awards with the same criteria as the scholarship will be paid directly to the student s four-year institution. Floyd and Rosalyn Young Science Scholarship One $700 scholarship Must have and maintain a minimum cumulative PC GPA of 3.25. Must be planning to major in math, chemistry, biology or physics, or intend to teach in any of those subjects. Frances Jo Leary Nursing Scholarship Two $3,500 scholarships Student must be enrolled fulltime at Peninsula College during the award year. Must be accepted for admission into the Nursing Program at Peninsula College Preference given to non-traditional students; single parents and/or those physically challenged. Friends of Studium Generale One $6,000 scholarship Student must be enrolled at least part-time at Peninsula College during the award year. Student must belong to one of the six area tribes: o Hoh Tribe o Jamestown S Klallam Tribe

o Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe o Makah Tribe o Port Gamble S Klallam Tribe o Quileute Tribe Student must have/maintain at least a 2.0 GPA while receiving the scholarship funds. Scholarship funds can be applied to tuition, mandatory fees, and books. Preference given to student with financial need. Helen Farrington Nursing Scholarship One $1,000 scholarship Must be pursuing an AA in Nursing. Must intend and have the potential to complete a registered nursing certificate. Preference given to a student with financial need. Helen Keegan Scholarship One $1,500 scholarship Must be enrolled fulltime at Peninsula College during the scholarship year. Must demonstrate through academic performances (grades) and/or test scores active involvement in the learning process. Must demonstrate excellence in the Health Care Program. Must demonstrate excellence in some co-curricular program (i.e., student leadership, music, drama, athletics, etc.). Must have a recommendation from a member of the high school or college faculty or staff. Preference given to students with financial need. Preference given to students of diversity. Jewel Webber One $400 scholarship This scholarship is for a student entering or continuing in the Medical Assisting program at Peninsula College. Preference to single parent with financial need. Must write a thank-you to the donor. Journalism Scholarship in Memory of Earl Clark Two $1,200 scholarships Must demonstrate through academic performances (grades) and/or test scores active involvement in the learning process. Must demonstrate excellence in Journalism. Must have a recommendation from a member of the high school or college faculty or staff. Preference given to students with financial need. Kiwanis Foundation of Port Angeles Floyd Young Scholarship One $1,000 scholarship Must be a full-time, or part-time student (with verification of employment in excess of 29 hours/week) attending Peninsula College during the award year. Preference to a second-year Peninsula College student. Preference given to a student with a minimum GPA of 3.25; majoring in math, chemistry, biology, or physics, or intend to teach in those subjects. Scholarship funds will be applied to any expenses the student may incur while registered at/attending Peninsula College Student is encouraged to write a thank-you letter to the donor.

Lily T. Newton Nursing Scholarship One $1,850 scholarship Must be pursuing an AA in Nursing. Must intend and have the potential to complete a registered nursing certificate. Student must have demonstrated ability, a care-giver s spirit, and a commitment to the pursuit of a career in Nursing. Preference will be given to students with financial need. Two letters of recommendation are required from high school or college faculty or staff, or a direct supervisor at your place of employment, as it relates to this scholarship. Lloyd J Allen Scholarship One $7,500 Scholarship This scholarship was created for a Forks High School student who will attend Peninsula College full time, beginning the fall quarter after high school graduation. Student must be a senior graduating from a Forks High School at time of application, who has demonstrated financial need. After the 2016-17 academic year, preference for awarding this scholarship will be given to a renewing applicant for this scholarship (a student who has received this scholarship the prior year). This scholarship is intended to support a student with the potential to succeed academically, yet who has experienced unique challenges while attending school that may have prevented such success. As such, the student must include a recommendation letter from a Peninsula College or high school counselor, faculty or staff member who can speak to the particular challenges or obstacles this student faces or has faced. Preference is given to a student seeking an AAS degree in the following vocational areas of study: o Welding o Automotive Technology o Advanced Manufacturing Composites Technology This scholarship may be applied to tuition, books, instructional supplies and materials, and travel to and from Forks and Port Angeles for the purpose of attending Peninsula College classes. Mansfield Endowment Scholarship Two $1,000 scholarships Student must be enrolled fulltime at Peninsula College during the award year. Student must be a resident of Clallam or Jefferson County. Student must have financial need. Student is encouraged to write a thank-you letter to the donor. Marjorie J. Holstege Nursing Scholarship One $1,000 scholarship This scholarship was created for Nursing Program students at Peninsula College. Student must be enrolled full-time at Peninsula College during the award year. Must be at least entering first year of Nursing Program when applying; however, preference will be given to renewing applicant (2 nd year student who received this scholarship the prior year). Preference given to a student with financial need. Must have demonstrated academic excellence with a minimum GPA of 3.5. Medical Assistant Scholarship Two $250 scholarships Student must be enrolled in, and have completed at least two quarters of, the Medical Assistant Program at Peninsula College.

Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Displays professionalism in and out of class. Plans to work in the community after graduation. North Olympic Women on the Water Scholarship One $1,000 scholarship This scholarship is open to women from Clallam County, WA, who are pursuing an education in marine science, or a precursor program to marine science (e.g., zoology, geology, physics, chemistry) with the intent of specializing in marine science, and will be awarded to the student who best fit the following criteria: Student must be a woman. Preference will be given to students who have graduated from a Clallam County high school or are a resident of Clallam County. The student should provide a statement of their personal goals for a career in marine science and any current or planned involvement in research benefitting the Salish Sea. This statement need not be longer than a paragraph or two. Preference will be given to applicants who have plans to or are currently participating in research projects in the Salish Sea. Nurse to Nurse Scholarship Two $2,500 scholarships This scholarship is for high school graduates pursuing an Associate in Science degree in Nursing at Peninsula College. Preference given to a Sequim High School graduate. Student must have successfully completed pre-requisite coursework and gained acceptance into the Nursing Program at Peninsula College as a first-year nursing student. Student must be enrolled fulltime at Peninsula College during the award year. Preference given to a student with financial need. Scholarship funds must be used for tuition and books only. P. Jack and Evelyn McCarter Nursing Scholarship One $1,000 scholarship Must be pursuing an AA in Nursing. Must intend and have the potential to complete a registered nursing certificate. Preference given to a student with financial need. Peninsula College Foundation Vocational Scholarship Ten $1,000 scholarships This scholarship was created for students enrolled fulltime in a vocational program at Peninsula College. Student must be enrolled fulltime at Peninsula College during the award year, in a two-year vocational degree program (including Professional/Technical programs, AAS programs and certificates). Must have and maintain a cumulative Peninsula College GPA of 2.50. Puget Sound Anglers NOPC Wally Pohlod Memorial Scholarship Two $1,000 scholarships Student must be a graduate of Clallam County High School and reside in Clallam County.

Pursuing a degree in the protection, management and restoration of wildlife or wildlife habitat or a closely related field. Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Reba and Estill Cornett Scholarship One $950 scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to the student who best meets the following criteria: Students must enroll fulltime at Peninsula College during award year. Must demonstrate through academic performance (grades) and/or test scores active involvement in the learning process. Must demonstrate excellence in the education or medical field of study. Must submit a current letter of recommendation from a member of the high school or college faculty or staff. Preference will be given to students with financial need. Renaissance Scholarship One $1,000 scholarship One of three scholarships developed from a donation made by Ben and Myrtle Walkling. Awarded to a Peninsula College student who has successfully completed an ABE/GED program, with preference given to students who completed the program at Peninsula College. Adult (21 years of age or older) or one with adult responsibilities (e.g. dependents). Successful completion of the ABE/GED program, with preference given to a student who has completed this program at Peninsula College. Must have completed at least 10 credits at Peninsula College with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Scholarship will be divided and awarded fall, winter and spring quarters, provided recipient completes a minimum of 10 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.50 the preceding quarter. Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild Medical Assistant Scholarship Two $1,000 scholarships Must be enrolled in the Peninsula College Medical Assistant Program during the award year. Scholarship recipients must complete at least 15 credits of core curriculum before they are awarded scholarship funds in the second and third quarter of the program. Students must also maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher to be eligible. Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild Nursing Scholarship Two $1,000 scholarships Must be enrolled fulltime at Peninsula College during award year. Must be a sophomore (have been accepted) in the Nursing Program. Must write a thank you letter to the donor. Sequim Valley Lions Club Scholarship Four $500 scholarships Must be a full-time student at Peninsula College. Must demonstrate through academic performances (grades) and/or test scores active involvement in the learning process. Must demonstrate excellence in Medical field or pre-med studies. Must demonstrate excellence in community service with preference going to Lion s Club activities. Must have a recommendation from a member of the high school or college faculty or staff. Preference will be given to students with financial need. Must write a thank you letter to the donor.

S.O.A.R Scholarship One $500 scholarship S.O.A.R stands for Spunk, Optimism, Attitude, Resilience Student must be enrolled fulltime at Peninsula College during the award year. Must be a student with disabilities (per ADA guidelines) living in Clallam or Jefferson County. Essay to address: o Biggest challenge your disability poses with respect to daily living. o One positive thing you ve learned as a result of your disability. o How do you stay motivated during challenging times? Student is encouraged to write a thank you to the donor. Story People of Clallam County Scholarship One $1,500 scholarship This scholarship is intended for students seeking a degree or certificate in the following Peninsula College program areas: Theater, Music, Creative Writing, Library Science, Voice, Teaching, Early Education. Student must be working toward a 4-year degree in Theatre, Music, Creative Writing, Voice, Early Education, Teaching or Library Science. Scholarship funds must be used only for tuition and/or books. Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Priority is given to students who have not received multiple scholarships from other sources. Must write a thank you letter to the donor. Tom Saelid Memorial Scholarship One $1,500 scholarship Must be a Clallam County resident. Must be enrolled in a direct transfer program. Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Priority is given to students with financial need. Recommendation letter is required from a member of the high school or college faculty or staff. Must write a Thank You letter to the donors. txʷéʔwi Scholarship (Go Forward) One $900 scholarship Successful recipient will best match the following criteria: Student must belong to one of the area tribes: o Hoh Tribe o Jamestown S Klallam Tribe o Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe o Makah Tribe o Port Gamble S Klallam Tribe o Quileute Tribe o Skokomish Tribe Student must be enrolled fulltime at Peninsula College during the award year. Student must enter Peninsula College from high school with a minimum of a 2.0 GPA, and/or have/maintain at least a 2.0 GPA while attending PC and receiving the scholarship funds. Preference given to student with financial need. Scholarship funds can be applied to tuition, mandatory fees, and books.

Walkling AOS/Business Administration Scholarship Two $1,000 scholarships One of three scholarships developed from a donation made by Ben and Myrtle Walkling. Awarded to a continuing or transfer student who has completed a minimum of 10 credits in administrative office systems or business. Completion of at least 15 credits at Peninsula College with a minimum of 10 credits in Administrative Office Systems, or Business Administration. Student must have and maintain a minimum PC cumulative GPA of 3.10 in degree program. Preference given to students with financial need. Must write a thank you to the donor. Scholarship will be divided and awarded fall, winter and spring quarters, provided recipient completes a minimum of 12 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.00 the preceding quarter. Walkling Community Service Scholarship Two $1,000 scholarships One of three scholarships developed from a donation made by Ben and Myrtle Walkling. The primary focus should be on the applicants service to the community. Secondarily, personal statement, endorsements, financial need and academic achievement should be weighed. Must be enrolled as a full-time student at Peninsula College during the scholarship year. Student must have completed at least 10 PC credits toward a degree or certificate. Student must have demonstrated outstanding community service. Student must have and maintain a minimum PC cumulative GPA of 2.50. Preference given to students with financial need. Must write a thank you to the donor. Scholarship will be divided and awarded fall, winter and spring quarters, provided recipient completes a minimum of 12 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.00 the preceding quarter. Yolanda B. Darcera Scholarship One $1,500 scholarship This scholarship is intended for single mothers with financial need going into or enrolled in the Nursing Program at Peninsula College. Must be enrolled fulltime at Peninsula College during the scholarship year. Preference given to a single mother, preferably in the second year of the Nursing Program, or if no qualified candidate, given to a single mother with financial need in the first year of the Nursing Program. Preference will be given to students with financial need. Preference given to a student 25-years-old or younger. Must be a Clallam County resident. Must have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Funds must be applied to tuition or books only. Remember to check back frequently, as additional scholarship may become available.

(*check the deadline for each of the scholarships you apply for, as incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.) September 21 Student Thank You Letters are due. All students who have been awarded PCF scholarships for 2018-2019 must have their thank you letters to the PC Foundation (or postmarked) by this date. Notifications: May 21 PCF Scholarship Notification for first group of scholarships that closed on April 22* will begin to go out for those who have been awarded scholarships, as well as to those who have not. July 30 PCF Scholarship Notifications for the second group of scholarships that closed on July 22* will begin to go out to those who have been awarded scholarships, as well as those who have not.
