WHAT IS THE CHINA LEARNING ABROAD PROGRAM? The China Learning Abroad Program is a 2-week educational and cultural study program designed to provide an opportunity to learn about the Chinese culture, history, education, politics, philosophy, economics, and government through lectures, workshops, cultural events, and social activities in Beijing, Xian, and Shanghai China. Registered UH students are eligible for 3-6 hours of UH credit from this study. LECTURES AT CHINESE UNIVERSITIES, SCHOOLS AND OTHER INSTITUTIONS The group will take lectures and engage in academic activities from the following schools and institutions: The Central Nationalities in Beijing, Beijing Normal University, Xi an Foreign Affairs University, Northwest University, China East Normal University as Shanghai University of Politics and Law. COST The program cost is TBD plus roundtrip airfare between Houston and Beijing (at a group discount rate). This fee includes hotels in Beijing, Xian and Shanghai, transportation (train and airplane) within China, and admission fees to tourist sites and music/art performances. A non-refundable application fee of $50 is due before the Center will accept an application. Registered UH students are eligible to apply for an International Education Fund Scholarship at the Learning Abroad Office. ASIAN AMERICAN STUDIES CENTER THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON CHINA LEARNING ABROAD PROGRAM Contract of Agreement and Medical Release Form The Asian American Studies Center s 2018 China Learning Abroad Program is a University of Houston-sponsored educational program designed to provide University of Houston s faculty, students, and staff, as well as Houston community members with opportunities to explore and study Chinese culture, history, philosophy, language, education, and economic development in China.
