This Newsletter is to help prepare you for summer registration. Summer registration will begin April 24 th. Read on for more details. Advising - I am scheduling advising appointments for April. Summer Course Registration - Online Instruction Summer courses requires self-registration in nursing and general education courses through MyCSUB. Please also remember to self-enroll through BB for each online course prior to the first day of class. Summer Registration Will Begin April 24th Summer Required Courses (8 units) Nursing 4210: Healthcare Ethics (3 units) Nursing 4240: Directed Study in Career Development (2 units) Communications 3058: Intercultural Communication (3 units, Upper-Division Area C) GWAR course options see Summer options (only for those that still need the GWAR) General Education Some of you have additional general education course work (i.e. Upper-Division Area C and/or GWAR) that you will need to work into your summer schedule. Please refer to your nursing outline and discuss your schedule with Brynn Schock if you have any questions about your individual graduation requirements. If you are planning to enroll in fall GE courses, and will be extending your graduation, you will need to discuss your graduation options with the Admissions and Records Evaluator, Diamond Thomas at dthomas11@csub.edu. Elective Unit(s) Please refer to your education plan and/or discuss with Brynn Schock to verify if you need elective units. Students that took Pathophysiology outside of CSUB, or those that have transferred in other RN-BSN coursework, typically are deficient in CSUB Resident Units and will need an additional 3 elective units. Registration 1. Check your enrollment period through MyCSUB to see what time/day you can begin registering. 2. Check for holds 3. Once your registration time has begun, add courses (step by step process) or add courses (how to video). 4. View your balance and pay your tuition. 5. Purchase textbooks online for home delivery or on-campus pick-up. Antelope Valley students may order for pick up at CSUBAV (Lancaster, CA). 6. Self -enroll and begin your courses through Blackboard by the first day of class. Need Help? If you have any enrollment issues, please contact Brynn Schock. Please provide the course number (5-digit number) and section number (2-digit number) of the course in which you are trying to register (example: NURS4918-60 CRN#11002). 3

GWAR Requirement (1 course if needed) ONLY if you did not pass the exam AND plan to grduate this summer. Follow the instructions for more details below under the Using Advnaced Search Feature in MyCSUB to generate a list of options. Graduation Ceremony 5/19 at 8:00am Summer 17 Grads Information is available at the CSUB Commencement website. Detailed instructions for the ceremony, tickets, regalia, and more can be found here. Post-Graduation Information: Public Health Nurse Certificate (PHN) Application Instructions BSN (degree) MUST be posted on your transcript to begin this process so you will receive an email with instructions to complete paperwork. This process can take anywhere from 3-12 months to receive the PHN. You may check on the status of your PHN application through the BRN Breeze system (License Verification). Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Program The purpose of this master s program is to prepare nurses with advanced nursing theory and clinical experiences in the advanced practice nursing role of Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). Students are prepared to assess the health needs and health risks of all family members, apply family theories, and analyze legal, ethical, economic, leadership and professional issues pertinent to nurse practitioners. Graduates from this program will be qualified to practice in mid-level primary care practice settings within the changing patterns of health care; assume leadership roles in multidisciplinary health groups; and practice family nursing in primary and secondary health care settings. Graduates will be prepared to apply for doctoral programs in nursing. As a RN to BSN Student, you may be eligible to apply. The Fall 2018 application submission period will open October 1, 2017. Master of Science in Health Care Administration The CSUB School of Business & Public Administration offers the MS in Health Care Administration.
