Meet the Team GARY THOMSEN, M.D. JULIE RUSSELL, FNP TRENT K. RUSSELL, M.D., MHA, FAAP Dr. Thomsen is board certified in family medicine. He provides primary care services, including preventive care, sick visits and chronic disease management. I always listen first and wait to ask questions, Dr. Thomsen said. I like to consider several angles before narrowing down the options to a solution. Then I try to enlist the patient s buy-in. I encourage them to help take ownership of the problem, and I let them know we are here to help them achieve a positive outcome. Julie Russell, FNP, cares for patients of all ages at Lake Regional Clinic Eldon, and she has a special interest in pediatrics. I went into family practice because I enjoy addressing concerns and teaching patients how to take care of themselves to prevent health problems, she said. I find it especially rewarding to watch my patients grow from young children, and I love their endless smiles and hugs. Whenever possible, Russell presents her patients with options for treatment and talks through what will work best for them and their family. Dr. Russell cares for infants and children and is board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics. His career at Lake Regional began in 995. He was awarded the Health Care U.S. Quality Award in 2006, and since has been voted Lake Lifestyles Magazine s Best of the Lake and Lake Sun Readers Choice Award - Pediatrician of the Year. He attended medical school at St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo., and completed residencies at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children s Hospital and St. Louis University Hospital, both in St. Louis, Mo.

SHERRY SCHWARTZ-BANNER, MSN, NP-C As a nurse practitioner, Schwartz- Banner has advanced education and clinical training and can provide preventive and acute health care services for patients of all ages. Schwartz-Banner said the most rewarding part of her work is helping patients through crises. I love helping patients, she said. I strive to give them the best care I can, and that means putting myself in their shoes to understand what they need in difficult times. MEGAN RAY, APRN, WHNP-BC Megan Ray, APRN, WHNP-BC, is a board-certified women s health nurse practitioner who cares for women in all stages of life. Her services include prenatal and post-partum care; wellwoman exams and PAP screening; adolescent gynecology; and peri- and post-menopausal care and more. I realized that a lot of women have limited knowledge about their bodies and what to expect as they age, she says. I strive to help women understand changes they are experiencing. I explain to them what is normal and what is not so they can make informed choices and take control of their health. WHITNEY LODGE, PHARMD Whitney Lodge, PharmD, has lived in Eldon her whole life. Lodge graduated from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 203 and that same year went to work for Lake Regional. Along with preparing prescriptions, she works with patients, making sure they understand their medications, avoid drug interactions and find cost-effective solutions. She also collaborates with doctors to develop the most appropriate treatment plans. It s rewarding, knowing I m helping people feel and live better, she says. I look forward to seeing hometown faces every day.
