Regional Reports 5.1 Regional Connectivity Report for the Pacific The study by ITU on maximising availability of international connectivity for the small Islands and developing states, with the collaboration of PITA for the Pacific augments well with the need from the small islands states, with the growing number of submarine cables projects and next generation HTS satellites for connectivity in the Pacific. The report draws most of its information from the workshop that was held in the Pacific by the ITU and PITA on enhancing access to submarine cables in the Pacific and from the stocktake that started from that workshop.

5.2 Report on Strategies for Telecoms in the Pacific for the next 5-10 years Phased over three years, the study by ITU with PITA on Strategies for Telecoms in the Pacific was aimed at consolidating strategies towards a common goal of harnessing the potentials of ICT and the catalyzing of resources in the Pacific for achieving key national development goals for a digital economy and digital society. Group Photo 1530-1600: Afternoon Break 1600-1730: 6. JOIN THE CONVERSATION A panel discussion by high level players in PITA on gearing up for unlocking and securing digital lifestyles in a connected Pacific, WHAT sort of re-imaginations would be needed for the telecoms to be able to deliver this, WHERE has the inroads been achieved and impacts from market patterns, and trends? WHAT are the national and business factors, and overheads to be considered? HOW could the external relations be leveraged in bridging the lack of scale in the region? 1030-1100: Morning Tea break 1000-1230 8. DISRUPTORS & STRATEGIES Conference Conference session Room: Hyatt Main Ballroom Floor 1 Raising the bar and consistency with Digital Networks and Services At recent PITA forums, CEOs expressed the benefit of capitalising on existing relationships for sharing and being truly inter-connected 1. There will be a need to develop new strategies to have these realized. Where needed, member countries can work closely with each other for sharing new e-application platforms, access to latest core technologies, and raise the consistency of best practices and technology that will be crucial in diversity for disasters 1 while also raising the scale when dealing with external markets and suppliers. 1 a failed network component in one country can be taken over by another working network This session is to examine what technologies are out there that members can consider adopting for the above aims. Also, this session will raise discussions points on impacts on telecoms by disruptive technologies, the role of IoT, Cloud and Virtualisation, and OTT in these respects. Keynote [proposal invited] Presentations 1230-1400: Lunch Break 1400-1530: BREAK OUT Virtualised Mobile Core as a service To show and discuss how cost effective and scalable NFV based LTE core rollouts, as compared to the traditional offerings with a case study [spot taken] [more proposals invited] Exhibition 9. Disruptors and Strategies Workshop Conference session: Technical and Commercial presentations for telecoms Room: Hyatt Main Ballroom Floor 1 9.1 Disruptors and Interconnection Strategies; [proposals invited] 9.2 Back to the Drawing board, building RAN from the ground up To discuss the benefits of the next generation Mobile networks and new technology that to enables 5G networks, which can be used in 4G networks today, and bring signification cost benefits to the Operator [spot taken] 9.3 Five challenges & opportunities for cellular IoT in the Pacific in the lead-up to 5G Cellular IoT looks to transform the role of telecommunication operators in society. Nowhere is this more true than in the Pacific, where often wireless communication is the fabric that holds remote communities together. Standards and protocols for cellular IoT

are cementing rapidly but this is still a relatively immature sector with only larger operator able to bring credible offerings to market. In this talk we ll look at some of the challenges and opportunities at bringing real solutions based on cellular IoT now and how those solutions can evolve with the maturation of 5G. [spot taken] 9.4 VoLTE/VoWiFi IMS deployment benefits for small MNO s A high-level presentation of how such services can be launched and the benefits gained by doing so [spot taken] 1530-1600: Afternoon Break 1600-1730: BREAK OUT Exhibition & Workshop 10. Digital Leadership Workshop. For delegates from Government and interested participants. SECURING THE DIGITAL LIFESTYLES Plenary Session Panel Discussions Room: Hyatt Main Ballroom (1 st floor) Let s be Bold 1 : Enabling a real connected Pacific - the dual challenge: Part One The national access With the need to meet future demands from digital transformations and the information revolution, most Telcos are not only facing challenges to upgrade their coverage & reach of High Speed Broadband (4G+), but also to ensure there is greater ubiquity, as well as diversity and resilience in them for disasters. There is also the

opportunity of the next generation HTS satellites with lower orbits that could complement most terrestrial networks; What recipes seem to be successful? 1 Let s be Bold sentiments by CEOs at the Pacific Workshop in PTC 17 Keynote Presentation [proposals invited] Panelists 1: Speaker1 will speak on the opportunity for growing the broadband micro markets, where ISPs and remote agencies can be empowered to respond to unmet demands in micro markets [spot taken] 2: Speaker 2 will discuss joining the ecosystem in providing more automated and intelligent platform for delivering services, including cloud, IoT based services for the mobile landscape [spot taken] 3: Speaker 3 will share on the case studies, using the new HTS satellites to upgrade mobile networks, to raise penetration, and provide mobiles services to the unconnected people, efficiently and more economically [spot taken]..more panelists invited [proposals invited] 1030-1100: Morning Tea break 1000-1230 12. SECURING THE DIGITAL LIFESTYLES Main stream and Alternative Connectivity Room: Hyatt Main Ballroom 1 st Floor Let s be Bold: Enabling a real connected Pacific - the dual challenge: Part Two International and national connectivity With the digitalization and the growing broadband to the community, most Telco s are facing challenges to grow their international capacity and at the same time consider the most economic solutions. There are new choices with next generation HTS satellites, whist on the other hand, there are aggressive funding schemes by donors for submarine cable. There is also a new role of government in this space. How will it work and what will be the successful recipes for the needed efficiencies and development? Huge commitments in costly submarine cable schemes may tie up needed funds for access and applications, that can in return, accelerate the needed growth and scale, drive local content and create new ecosystems. There is also the need to expand high speed connectivity to the rural and outer islands. Submarine cables terminate only to main centers and can be disastrous for small island country if there are any unplanned outages and no back up. As more countries are now being connected physically by submarine cables with the year 2020 1 targeted for countries to be all connected; how can each country gain access to each other s connectivity and truly become interconnected directly? What recipes seem to be successful? 1 ITU/PITA Workshop on Enhancing Access to Submarine Cables in the Pacific Islands Keynote Presentation [proposals invited] Panelists [Panelists invited]

1230-1400: Lunch Break 1400-1530: 13.
