Kinds of Scholarships ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS Based on final high school grades (starting at 80%) Amounts and requirement vary greatly among schools Do not require an application Check to see if they are renewable Refer to the final slides of this presentation for entrance scholarships for individual schools NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS Based on marks (90% or higher) and extra-curricular activities Some must be nominated by high school For, Queens, Western & U of T see guidance ASAP General Scholarships All schools have other scholarships available Visit the websites for individual schools to see the scholarships that they offer
National Scholarships University of Toronto The National Book Awards Must be nominated by High school (1 per school) Award recipients receive a National Book Award recognizing their achievements It is a non-monetary award The National and Arbor Scholarships Students who excel academically and are well rounded Student must be nominated by High school (1 per school) 20 students are selected as finalists. 10 National Scholarships awarded annually National Scholarship covers tuition and incidental fees for four years, will provide residence support in first year DUE NOVEMBER 4th 2017

Queen s University 90-94.9% - $1,500 $2,000 in your first year 95-100% - $4,000 for two years Students admitted to the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree program with averages of 88.5-89.9% will receive a one-year award valued at $2,000. Royal Military College Students in the Regular Officer Training program will have all academic fees covered by the Canadian Forces. They also receive a monthly salary from which meals and residence are deducted. Student in the Reserve Entry Training Program pay for tuition/books, residence and a meal plan. They do not receive a salary, but are guaranteed employment during the summer Ryerson Must have an 80%+ average and have been enrolled in a minimum of 3 U/M level courses. Students with a 95% or higher will be considered for the Outstanding Scholars candidate Year Scholarship York University 95% + - $12,000 ($3,000 x 4 years) 90%-94.9% - $2,500 85%-89.9% - $1,500 80%-84.9% - $1,000 Scholarships between 80%-94.9% are one time only. Students qualifying for the above award and accepting their offer by the deadline also receive the $500 Student Life Award designed to help with the cost of books, eating on campus etc.
