At People s United Bank, community partnership matters. It s a part of our DNA and how we conduct business. Today, we are deeply rooted in and committed to continuing our legacy of giving back to the communities where we live and work. In 2017, we supported the important work of nonprofit organizations through charitable donations and cause-related sponsorships funded by People s United Bank. In addition, through the bank s two charitable foundations People s United Community Foundation and People s United Community Foundation of Eastern Massachusetts grants were awarded in support of programs and services that are having a positive impact on our communities, with a special emphasis given to programs and services in low-income areas designed to promote economic stability, improve education, and facilitate affordable housing and homeownership. We also invested in the financial health and well-being of our neighbors through our community outreach programs including our Financial Education, Masters, and employee volunteer and engagement programs in addition to community reinvestment initiatives and community partnerships. We are proud of our investments, and thankful to our employees and community partners for joining us in our efforts to create positive outcomes and lasting change for our communities in 2017. We look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts and expanding our philanthropic reach and partnerships for many years to come. 1

CELEBRATING 175 YEARS Foundation Special Anniversary Grant To commemorate the company s heritage of giving back, we kicked off our 175th Anniversary celebration with a special $175,000 grant to Junior Achievement USA, which was awarded by People s United Community Foundation. The grant was allocated to Junior Achievement offices throughout our Foundation s footprint to implement JA programming that will target low-to-moderate income schools to better prepare students in workforce readiness and financial literacy. As part of our support, People s United Bank employees are volunteering their time to deliver the JA in a Day programming to students at designated schools. Programs will run through 2018, and we look forward to sharing updates on the collective impact this special grant is having on our communities in the coming months. Celebrate 175 Volunteer Challenge Our anniversary celebration continued with a 175th Volunteer Campaign, as we challenged our employees to join together to conduct 175 unique volunteer projects in the communities we serve. The campaign proved to be extraordinary, as employees surpassed our Celebrate 175 Volunteer Challenge goal with hundreds of employees engaging in more than 175 volunteer projects, totaling nearly 1,600 volunteer hours. We are proud and thankful to our employees for their dedication, and for demonstrating People s United Bank s steadfast commitment to our communities. EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT Employee Volunteerism Each year, People s United Bank employees dedicate countless hours volunteering their time to create a lasting impact. From serving on boards, teaching financial education classes, and participating in fundraising events, our employees are consistently seen in our communities giving back. In 2017, employees contributed more than 32,000 volunteer hours to hundreds of non-profit organizations, which generated an economic impact of nearly $900,000. Financial Education Community Outreach As a leader in the financial services industry, it is particularly important for People s United Bank to invest in the financial health and well-being of our neighbors. Statistics on financial literacy continue to demonstrate the importance of financial education and the serious consequences associated with a lack of understanding about personal finances. In 2017, our employees addressed this issue by partnering with nonprofits, schools and other community groups, to deliver financial education classes to individuals of all ages. Through our efforts, we conducted 800 financial education and career readiness classes reaching more than 22,000 individuals. Women In Leadership In 2015, People s United Bank launched the Women In Leadership (WIL) initiative, designed to promote diversity and inclusion by welcoming all People s United employees to participate in building strong relationships through women and for women to spark collaboration, foster relationships, support personal and professional development and encourage volunteerism. Now in its third year, Women in Leadership took a significant leap forward in 2017, with more than 1,000 members, consisting of ten chapters across the Northeast. Our regional chapter members comprise approximately 20% of our employee base, who came together in support of the WIL mission and engaged in a variety of personal and professional development opportunities, including a leadership series, webinars, networking events, community volunteerism and a mentoring program. 4 PEOPLES UNITED BANK Economic impact through Employee Employee Volunteerism membership within the Women In Leadership initiative 1600 $900k Financial education classes delivered, Volunteer hours reaching more than given by our 22,000 individuals employees engaged in more than 175 projects Employees are members of Economic impact Women In Leadergenerated ship initiativewithin the communities within our Northeast footprint 5

AARP FRAUD WATCH NETWORK PARTNERSHIP Masters Program For more than 20 years, People s United Bank has actively addressed financial crimes against older adults through our Masters Program. The program is designed to protect seniors from identity theft and scams by providing educational resources, seminars, events and training in collaboration with law enforcement, senior advocacy agencies and other community groups. Americans lose more than $15b a year to fraud. Stay Informed to Stay Protected AARP Fraud Prevention Partnership In our ongoing efforts to combat this epidemic, People s United Bank collaborated with the AARP Fraud Watch Network in 2017. Working together to fight identity theft and scams, the campaign provided customers and the public with access to free print, digital and online educational information and resources. As part of the campaign, People s United Bank is hosting AARP Fraud Watch Network kiosks that are touring branches throughout our footprint. The kiosks include AARP s digital library of fraud prevention content, including articles, videos and quizzes. In addition, all bank branches distributed the popular AARP Watch Dog Alert handbooks; a free resource that outlines 13 ways con artists steal your money. We also launched an ATM messaging campaign, hosted fraud prevention seminars in our branches, and conducted a direct mail campaign that collectively reached more than 3.8 million consumers. We believe awareness is key and encourage you to visit our partnership page at peoples.com/fraudwatch to stay informed to stay protected. CULTURE OF GIVING BACK CONTACT US Collective Impact Through our collective giving, volunteer efforts and non-profit partnerships, our mission is to improve, and directly contribute to the social, financial and economic well-being of the communities we serve each year, and 2017 was no exception. Through our two foundations, we awarded more than $3.5 million in grants to more than 500 non-profit organizations throughout our footprint. In addition to the Foundations grants, People s United Bank donations, sponsorships and employee contributions of more than $4.5 million, generated a collective impact of nearly $8 million. We also provided more than $98.4 million in Equity investments in Affordable Housing and SBA loans in support of economic and community development initiatives. To help in the recovery and rebuilding efforts, our Foundation made a $50,000 donation to the American Red Cross, in addition to employee donations and fundraising activities in response to the record 2017 hurricane season. We also donated more than $624,000 to local United Ways and member agencies through employee donations and matching contributions during the People s United Annual United Way Giving Campaign; a partnership that spans more than 80 years. Together, the banks and foundations giving and investment efforts generated an impact of more than $106 million in our communities, a milestone we can all be proud of.
