TEACHING EXPERIENCE: Ave Maria University, Ave Maria, FL; fall 2013 present Assistant Professor of Theology, fall 2013 present Made public Profession of Faith, Oath of Fidelity, and received Mandatum, fall 2013 Director of Undergraduate Theology Program, fall 2015 present THEO 105 Sacred Scripture, Ave Maria University fall 2013, fall 2014, and fall 2015 This course has a twofold goal: to introduce students to the principles of authentic Catholic biblical exegesis, and to explore how God, the Creator, has acted through his covenants to draw his people, disordered by the Fall, back to himself. The course begins by examining the principles of Catholic exegesis as set forth definitively by Dei Verbum and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. We then undertake a careful reading of large segments of the Old and New Testaments, with an emphasis on the unity of Scripture. THEO 205 Sacred Doctrine, Ave Maria University fall 2012 (Ph.D. studentteacher), spring 2013, and spring 2014 This course serves as an introduction to Catholic dogmatic theology, with particular attention given to natural and divine revelation, the modes of transmission of divine revelation, the essential doctrines of the faith, the moral life, liturgy and the sacraments. THEO 400 Living in Christ, Ave Maria University fall 2013, spring 2014, fall 2014 (directed study for three students), spring 2015, and fall 2015 This course serves as an introduction to Catholic moral theology. By examining holiness, the beatitudes, human actions, the moral and theological virtues, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and natural and divine law, this course investigates how Christians are conformed to Christ in their lives. THEO 490 Senior Theology Seminar, Ave Maria University fall 2014 (directed study for two students) As the final course in the theology sequence, the senior seminar is designed for and required of all theology majors. In a seminar format, students examine a topic in depth and prepare a research project to be presented at the end of the semester. THEO 553 Catholic Systematic Theology & Eschatology (M.A.), Ave Maria University fall 2015 (co-taught with Fr. Matthew Lamb) This course provides an overview of the sapiential character of theology. It draws upon biblical, patristic, scholastic, and contemporary efforts to integrate the quests for wisdom and holiness with those for science and scholarship in the two millennial tradition of Catholic systematic reflections on the truth of the Catholic faith. The theoretical understanding of the whole of theology as subaltern to God and the Blessed in St. Thomas Aquinas is related to the importance of relating history to eternity. In this context eschatology is studied with reference to the theological reflections of Professor Joseph Ratzinger on the teachings of the Bible, the Page 2
