President / ANA Delegate Lynda Pond Sacred Heart Medical Center Eugene, OR I have always viewed ONA as the voice of nurses in Oregon. I became involved as a volunteer in 2001 when my hospital was experiencing a staffing and safety crisis equal to what hospitals throughout the state are experiencing currently. I was proud to be involved in the original Staffing Law and have been a strong advocate of safe staffing for many years. At the local level I have had the privilege of working with my peers to negotiate contracts, settle grievances and work with management (when possible) to solve issues and concerns in house. I believe that nurses need a strong advocate at all levels. ONA is a growing organization with many challenges as we move toward the future. I would be proud to have a part in shaping that future and believe that as the President of ONA I can not only be that advocate but can help shape programs that will carry our vision far into the future. Secretary Janice Carey MSN ED, MSC, St. Anthony s Hospital Pendleton, OR Kindra Scanlon, FNP OHSU When thinking about why I would like to be the Secretary on the Board of Directors it is simple I want to make a difference in nursing. But, also, I want the east side of the state nurses to be heard. Don t get me wrong we all have the same issues in nursing, but at different levels. The east side of the state have critical access hospital which provides its own problems. We are seeing a nursing shortage due to many do not want to live in small rural areas and the baby boomers are retiring. Some may say the lack of cultural, but if you want a slow, laid back way of life then Eastern Oregon is for you. The ONA provides nurses a voice and I would like to be one of the voices for Eastern Oregon nurse. 2001-present: St Anthony s Hospital (staff nurse, nurse supervisor, scrub/circulator) 2016-present: Lifeway s (Nurse and Clinicial bed placement for PSRB and crisis beds 16 bed inpatient) 1999-present: Owner/Operator Carey s House Rentals 2004-2008: Good Shepard Medical Center (staff nurse, nurse supervisor) 2003-2008: Blue Mountain Community College (theory and clinical instructor) 2001-2004: 3-D Health Care (psychiatric/mental health nurse in the community) 2016-2018 Cabinet of Education 2016-present PNCC Chair 2000-present variety of position for the ONA executive team at St. Anthony s Hospital Thank you for considering me for this elected position. Pamela Gordon CI Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center Corvallis, OR Since serving ONA on the E&GW Cabinet for 3 years, I have become much more aware of issues affecting all nurses across the country. While AFT represents significantly more teachers than nurses, many issues affect both of our professions. I want to be able to say I did my part in helping protect our collective future, and help minimize the effects of assaults on so many of our core professional values. Wendy Hackett BSN,, CNOR Bay Area Hospital Coos Bay, OR I was raised in rural Oregon and have lived here most of my life. I would like to bring forth a voice from this region to the state level. I was raised with many family members in various unions and have a very strong recognition of the role that unions play in the lives of workers. I am very interested in serving the nurses of Oregon at the next level and being able to bring the knowledge and experience I gain back to my local Constituent Association. Additionally, I think that the nurses in rural Oregon have a lot to offer and I hope to be their voice. Lisa Logsdon BSN, CMS Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital Lebanon, OR I am ready to contribute energy and enthusiasm toward protecting our profession, and the future of nursing. I have been privileged to be a leader in my workplace and have seen positive changes, as well as worrisome trends. As a candidate for the Human Rights and Ethics Cabinet, I intend to work towards increasing our diversity, access to educational opportunities, protecting patients safety and rights to medical care. We have many unmet needs for housing, drug and alcohol treatment, primary care providers, and mental health providers. Attracting, empowering, and mentoring new nurses is essential. Nurses work hard, and I want to ensure that Oregon nurses have the professional respect and resources they need to meet today s challenges. Page 15

AFT Delegate (20) Kevyn Paul, BSN, CEN Sacred Heart Medical Center Eugene, OR Ann Murdock BSN,, CC Providence St Vincent Medical Center In order to properly represent the membership, an AFT delegate needs to be familiar with the issues that both individual nurses and the collective membership of ONA will be facing in the near future. As a charge nurse, steward, bargaining team member and member of the E&GW Cabinet I believe I have a good understanding of many of these issues and am capable of and willing to advocate for interests. Susan Phillips CC, CN, SC Providence Portland Medical Center I have been an ONA member and activist at Providence Portland Medical Center for 33 years. Dan Richmond, BSN, CMS Providence Medford Medical Center Medford, OR In 2016 I received the ONA Internal Organizer award for my efforts and success as an active ONA member during the PMMC-ONA 2015 Contract campaign to build collective power and for nurses to win a fair contract. In 2015 I received PMMC s highest nursing honor The Nancy Roberts Award for Nursing Excellence for my efforts and success as a staff nurse, mentor, educator, and injury prevention. I want nurses to build collective power. I am a firm believer in ONA, the power of collective action, and that direct care nurses will be at the forefront for better healthcare in this country.
