Education Club s Spring Fling Saturday, March 28 1:00 P.M.-3:00 P.M. ATC Building Open to all Stark State students. Bring your children to a fun event with treats, crafts and even an Easter egg hunt! This is a free event but we are asking that each family bring one new or gentle used children s book. These books will be given to the United Way. On Sunday, April 12, the Beta Gamma Epsilon chapter will hold its Formal Induction Ceremony at 2:00 p.m. in Room M100/101. We will induct 148 students this year! Our guest speaker will be Patrice Fetzer, Manager of Service Delivery for the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Stark County. The Beta Gamma Epsilon chapter on March 13-14 attended the Ohio Region Phi Theta Kappa Awards Convention. Tri-Beta Xi Zeta Tri-Beta Xi Zeta Club is the biological honor society here at Stark State College. Our chapter is affiliated with Mount Union, and membership can be transferred to any four-year college with a chapter of Tri-Beta. We are dedicated to improving understanding of biology throughout the school and the community. Anyone is welcome to attend our meetings, however to meet national membership requirements you must meet the following criteria: maintain a 3.0 GPA in Biology courses, attend two meetings per semester, and dedicate time to the club through various activities (spring fling, activities fair, etc.). Tri-Beta is active within the school and community, volunteering to teach and assist in STEM events, participating in community service and fundraising, attending conventions and taking field trips, and organizing and assisting in various other events such as AIDS awareness week. Joining Tri-Beta not only looks great on a resume, but you will be able to form connections and friendships to further your personal leadership and career development. What is TOPS all about? TOPS Club, Inc. is the original, nonprofit, weight-loss support and wellness education organization. We were established in 1948 to champion weight-loss support and success. TOPS promotes successful, affordable weight management with a philosophy that combines: Healthy eating Regular exercise Wellness information Awards and recognition TOPS Support from others at weekly chapter meetings TOPS Mission: is to support our members as they take off and KEEP off pounds sensibly. TOPS Fees: TOPS annual membership fee is $28, plus nominal chapter fees (average $1 per month) collected for local chapter expenses. We also offer the option for members who do not wish to participate in TOPS.org or SSC TOPS where members can join the SSC Weight loss Club. Anyone interested in joining the SSC Weight Loss Club is invited to attend one No Obligation meeting prior to completing an application. Members of the club shall dedicate themselves to the purpose of controlling their weight and to the encouragement of other members to do likewise. SSC Weight Loss Club is dedicated to taking off pounds. Therefore, we advocate a basic food exchange plan and moderate exercise to achieve weight loss and maintain it. However, we do not render medical or other professional advice. Members should seek the services of a licensed healthcare professional for medical advice or other assistance. LGBTS Global, Stark State s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and straight student club Many of the ideas, suggestions, discoveries from MBLGTACC will become part of the LGBTS Global programing and meetings for the remainder of this Spring term. Everyone here at Stark State is welcome to attend the weekly meetings of LGBTS Global which are held in G-108 every Thursday evening from 5 until 7. Students, Faculty, and Staff -- come when you can and leave when you must. The Future Speakers of America Club want to help you Help is near for your presentation or speech. The Future Speakers of America is offering free tutoring sessions weekly.
The Student Occupational Therapy Assistant Club (SOTA)...will be holding several events throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. Friday, the 27th of March, we helped the Friendship Center in Canton and doing a potluck dinner for patrons that go to that facility. April 22nd and 23rd we are having our annual spring plant sale which will include flowers, vegetables & herbs. We are also holding a basket raffle Our themed baskets are as follows: Spa, garden, leisure, cooking and exercise! Then on April 30th, we will be having fun events at the Spring Fling! Our club had a contest for a T-shirt design and the winner of the contest was Margie Mcginnis. We have sold tons of shirts and have made over a $400 profit thus far. T-shirts are $12.00 a piece and sweatshirts are $24
The Stark State College Psi Beta Honor Society has been very active. We have the following updates: New officers have been elected including; William Nagle President, Tracy Bowman Vice President, Leah Fenner Secretary, Susan Johnson Treasurer, Kayte Pistone Chapter Representative, Margaret Shimko Historian. We will be inducting approximately 18 new members during a ceremony on April 16th at 6:00 pm in the ATC Auditorium. Students have worked extremely hard at researching and developing a Students Helping Students food pantry on Campus. Permissions have been obtained and we are only waiting on a home to begin the collection and distribution process. The Club plans a significant presence during Spring Fling. The Club continues its relationship with the Crisis Intervention and Recovery Center of Stark County with upcoming potential internships and volunteer opportunities. The total membership is over 30 strong. Let me know if you need and additional information.
