Statements & Search Criteria Mission To develop and promote an innovative and viable Crime Solvers program that assists law enforcement and serves and supports our entire community now and in the future in an effort to solve crimes and keep the community safe. Crime Solvers is a nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer, civilian board of directors that provides Chesterfield County and Colonial Heights with a tip program to assist law enforcement in solving crimes. We strive to support these police departments in their crime solving activities by enabling a system that allows for any citizen to provide crime related information in an anonymous fashion while at the same time possibly earning a cash reward. Specifically, the Board fosters relationships with the media, local businesses and the general public to raise awareness of our program in the community and to raise the necessary funds for support of the program. Background Crime Solvers was founded in 1984. The organizations has made a significant impact on the community by the receipt of tips which have led to solving thousands of crimes, the recovery of illegal drugs and citizens' property. Crime Solvers is a very successful organization. We bring together citizens, the media and law enforcement to get the criminals off the street and make our community safer for everyone. We are successful because of the cooperation and tremendous support we have received from the community through business and individual donations and through support of our fundraisers. As an organization, we are 30 years old and are managed by a volunteer citizen board to assist law enforcement. Our percentage of crimes solved based on tips received is over 30%!!! That is well above the average for similar organizations. Impact Accomplishments: Since inception the organization has solved 7,100 crimes, seized $922,348 in drugs and recovered $2,063,191 in property. The total number of tips received is 26,811 and reward payments total $528,951. Our goals for the coming year include: 1. Increase our presence in middle and high schools in Chesterfield County and the City of Colonial Heights through our Crime Solvers Clubs; 2.Increase Board membership to better reflect our changing demographics; 3.Increase awareness of our tips program; 4.Continue fund raising efforts to support our advertising and scholastic programs. Needs 1.Increase volunteer membership for the Board of Directors; 2.Funds for the extensive scholastic program for middle & high schools - $8,000-$10,000; 3.Funds for advertising to increase awareness of the program within the community. 2

Board Chair Statement We are a volunteer, citizen Board who work with law enforcement and the media in order to make the Chesterfield County and Colonial Heights safe. One of the most rewarding aspects of our Board Members efforts is our Scholastic Program. We feel strongly that our youth need to be reached at the right time and with the right message. We have Crime Solvers clubs in eight of the middle schools and four of the high schools and are focusing on expanding this program. The students report crimes that they observe both in the schools and in the community at large. These students are also paid cash rewards from Crime Solvers based on their individual club s recommendations. Our efforts gain a lot of publicity in the media. In addition to broadcasting the Crime of the Week, they remind us that it is the citizens who play an instrumental role in solving all types of crimes, both large and small. We are extremely grateful for the media s ongoing support. Areas Of Service Areas Served Areas Chesterfield County Colonial Heights, City All of Chesterfield County, VA and Colonial Heights, VA. Additionally, please see the comments below concerning our middle and high school scholastic program. SCHOLASTIC CLUBS One of the greatest opportunities is the fact that there are 32,000 middle and high school students in Chesterfield County and Colonial Heights.
