Dining and nutrition facility

Fueling champions The Dining and Nutrition Facility was designed with the student athlete s needs in mind. The design is the culmination of a year-long collaboration among engineers, designers, and University of Alabama athletics staff including administration, coaches, academics, sports medicine and nutrition as well as student athletes.

We are very excited for the addition of the dining facility, which was designed with our players in mind. Nutrition is such an important part of being a college athlete, and this addition to our complex is a great way to invest in their development. This cutting-edge facility gives our players an advantage in academic and athletic performance, recovery, health and well-being, while allowing us to execute nutrition science on a plate. Head Football Coach Nick Saban

Fueling environment Our goal of creating an ideal fueling environment informs everything from the daily menu to the design of the kitchen and server to our equipment needs. Action stations for live cooking offer fresh foods made to order. Private dining space may accommodate educational meetings including experiential cooking demonstrations, nutrition presentations, pregame meals, recruiting or special team events.

This facility will set a new standard for performance nutrition in college athletics, providing significant competitive advantage to all University of Alabama student athletes in their physical development, while enhancing their academic and athletic performance and optimizing wellbeing and health. It will also function as a hub and meeting place fostering meaningful interaction and stronger relationships among student athletes and all athletic department staff. Amy Bragg, RD, LD Director of Performance Nutrition

Fueling center The Fueling Center was conceived to meet the recovery nutrition needs of student athletes on the go with high nutrient and energy needs compounded by rigorous academic, training and competition schedules. Our student athletes asked for a smoothie and coffee bar and lounge space to utilize during breaks for studying or waiting to catch the bus to class, so we fit this into the main floor entry area.

The new dining and nutrition center is being designed to meet the specific and unique nutritional needs of high level athletes. Nutrition is an incredibly critical component to performance, and there is no doubt that this facility will give us a tremendous advantage by significantly improving our ability to develop our student-athletes from a physical standpoint. Jeff Allen, Associate Athletics Director, Sports Medicine

Approximately 25,000 square feet Two floors of serving, dining and lounge space including two outdoor dining areas with total capacity of 817 Anticipate feeding our studentathletes twice a day one recovery snack from the fueling center and one sit down meal. Some teams may eat 2 meals per day and take advantage of fueling center as well. Fueling center featuring a coffee and smoothie bar as well as snacks designed by nutrition staff with extended hours to facilitate optimal fueling and recovery for studentathletes on-the-go. Two servery spaces with capacity for 7 action stations Experiential learning demo kitchen for live teaching and cooking demo vignettes Upstairs balcony dining space for 50+ with a view of the football practice fields

Fueling commitment The new Crimson Tide dining and nutrition center will not only be another centralized, state-of-the-art facility at the University of Alabama but another example of how our athletics administration continues their commitment to excellence in every area of our student-athletes lives by providing the highest quality fuel that will help us continue to build champions in every sport. Gymnastics Head Coach Dana Duckworth

Private dining space with seating for up to 40 people for pregame meals and presentation technology for nutrition education meetings Access to nutrition staff and body composition technology Direct connection to football facility Easy access for all student athletes around workouts, practices, meetings and classes Executive Performance Chef will execute our performance nutrition vision and recruit, train and mentor other culinary staff members Facility launch will bring new focus on partnerships with local farmers in order to secure the best nutritional product for our student athletes

Fueling student-athletes Having the dining and nutrition center is a tremendous asset to our athletics department and will provide our student-athletes with the best selections of food that meet our nutrition and performance enhancement goals. One of the most important things we stress to our student-athletes is the importance of eating right in order to get the most out of your body. This center will help our athletes learn how to eat healthily and thus benefit them for not only their time at The University of Alabama but also for the rest of their lives. Men s Basketball Head Coach Avery Johnson
