Dining and nutrition facility
Fueling champions The Dining and Nutrition Facility was designed with the student athlete s needs in mind. The design is the culmination of a year-long collaboration among engineers, designers, and University of Alabama athletics staff including administration, coaches, academics, sports medicine and nutrition as well as student athletes.
We are very excited for the addition of the dining facility, which was designed with our players in mind. Nutrition is such an important part of being a college athlete, and this addition to our complex is a great way to invest in their development. This cutting-edge facility gives our players an advantage in academic and athletic performance, recovery, health and well-being, while allowing us to execute nutrition science on a plate. Head Football Coach Nick Saban
Fueling environment Our goal of creating an ideal fueling environment informs everything from the daily menu to the design of the kitchen and server to our equipment needs. Action stations for live cooking offer fresh foods made to order. Private dining space may accommodate educational meetings including experiential cooking demonstrations, nutrition presentations, pregame meals, recruiting or special team events.
This facility will set a new standard for performance nutrition in college athletics, providing significant competitive advantage to all University of Alabama student athletes in their physical development, while enhancing their academic and athletic performance and optimizing wellbeing and health. It will also function as a hub and meeting place fostering meaningful interaction and stronger relationships among student athletes and all athletic department staff. Amy Bragg, RD, LD Director of Performance Nutrition
Fueling center The Fueling Center was conceived to meet the recovery nutrition needs of student athletes on the go with high nutrient and energy needs compounded by rigorous academic, training and competition schedules. Our student athletes asked for a smoothie and coffee bar and lounge space to utilize during breaks for studying or waiting to catch the bus to class, so we fit this into the main floor entry area.
The new dining and nutrition center is being designed to meet the specific and unique nutritional needs of high level athletes. Nutrition is an incredibly critical component to performance, and there is no doubt that this facility will give us a tremendous advantage by significantly improving our ability to develop our student-athletes from a physical standpoint. Jeff Allen, Associate Athletics Director, Sports Medicine
