TRIBE TECH ROBOTICS Tribe Tech Robotics had an outstanding weekend at the Indiana State Championships finishing 6th with a 8-3-1 record during the qualification rounds of the tournament. We were unfortunately defeated in the quarterfinals of the elimination round. This is the highest placement in the history of our team. FIRST uses a metric, offensive performance rating (think batting average) to be able to compare teams across the activity. During the 2017 season Tribe Tech Robotics has consistently had an OPR rank in the top 150 robots in all of FIRST (3500 teams). We have been invited and will be attending the World Championships in St. Louis at the end of the month (April 26-29). GIRLS SOCCER CALLOUT MEETING Girls soccer callout meeting will be May 4th From 4:00-430 in Coach Adams' room (309). We will discuss plans and expectations for the summer as well as during next year's season. FOODS CLASS All Foods classes made Dirt Pudding with Gummy Worms

SUMMER ONLINE CLASSES DCHS will be offering U.S. Government and Economics online during the summer. This is a great way to get 2 required courses done at the student's own pace and free up their schedule. Mr. Neilson will also have office hours during the summer so students can come in and have face-toface time. Classes will start Tuesday, May 30th at 9:00 a.m. in Room 206. Any questions please contact Mr. Neilson at mneilson@danville.k12.in.us CAFETERIA NEWS In an attempt to collect unpaid meal balances, no charging will be allowed for the rest of the school year staring Monday, May 1st. This applies to all Danville Schools. If a student forgets their lunch money, they will be given a peanut butter sandwich, milk, and juice. TRIBE TECH ROBOTICS AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Tribe Tech Robotics had a very successful experience at the world championships. We finished the qualification rounds ranked 20th of 68 on our field. Our offensive performance statistical rating was second best on our field. We performed consistently in each match earning notice from other teams. Often at the world championships teams with a strong history are selected for participation in the elimination rounds over teams with a strong performance at the event. We were selected to be a part of the 6th seeded alliance based upon our consistent performance throughout the week. Our alliance move through eliminations all the way to the finals (our first time ever in a finals match) and were two wins away from the ultimate stage in FIRST robotics. Of the 15 teams from Indiana at the event nine were selected for the eliminations rounds on their fields. During eliminations Tribe Tech Robotics was the last Indiana team standing. Overall an amazing experience with an outcome far greater than expected.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH March 2017 Hannah Reilly has been named April s Student of the Month by the Art Department. J.K. Rowling once stated, Read as much as you possibly can. Nothing will help you as much as reading and you ll go through a phase where you will imitate your favorite writers and that s fine because that s a learning experience too. It is the world of Harry Potter that turned our student of the month, Hannah Reilly, into a reader. Hannah Reilly Student of the Month is an award based on a person s good citizenship, character, service, honesty, and all around good behavior. Hannah truly enjoys art and Ms. Strunk had the following to say, Hannah is such a talented student and positive influence on those around her. While she excels in the arts and creates beautifully crafted pieces, she also helps others along the way through her words of encouragement and helpful ideas. After she graduates in 2018, Hannah plans to attend Ball State where she will continue to hone the skill of helping others by majoring in Social Work. Hannah has always admired her mother as she has shown her how to be compassionate and work hard at the same time. Hannah has used this trait in her work as she works in a retirement community four days a week. She also, demonstrates a great deal of thoughtfulness in working with her dog, Oliver, who only had hind legs. As you go forward in life remember this piece of wisdom from Ginny Weasley, The thing about growing up with Fred and George is that you sort of start thinking anything s possible if you ve got grouch nerve. Congratulations, Hannah on being named the student of the month.
