STROKE UPDATE 2018 Objectives Identify current management options for spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage Summarize recent evidence regarding use of thrombolytics in stroke Identify common neurostimulants used in stroke rehabilitation care Determine the indication for closure of a patent foramen ovale following acute ischemic stroke Describe the application of stem cell therapy in stroke recovery Identify key steps that can streamline the assessment and interfacility transfer of stroke patients List important imaging options that may be used to evaluate a patient with acute ischemic stroke Describe the application of prehospital assessment scales Identify three risk factors for stroke in women Who Should Attend Neurologists, neurosurgeons, interventionalists, emergency medicine physicians, radiologists, cardiologists, family practitioners, internists, nurses, nurse practitioners, pre-hospital personnel and hospital administrators. Continuing Education Credit The is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Other health care professionals are awarded 0.6 continuing education units (CEU s) which are equal to 6.5 contact hours. Nursing: UPMC Provider Unit is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation.
