THE CONFERENCE The Asian Association of Sport Management (AASM), in cooperation with the Sport Management Council of the Philippines (SportPhil) and the De La Salle University-Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business (DLSU-RVRCOB) will hold the 14th AASM Conference with the theme: Discovering and Developing the Sport Industry Potential for Asia from August 2 to 4, 2018 at the De La Salle University, Taft campus. With substantial talks by some of the leading scholars and educators in Asia and North America, this year s AASM Conference is expected to gather international delegates from Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and the rest of Southeast Asia, and more than 500 local participants, composing of teachers, students, and coaches from UAAP and NCAA schools, as well as schools outside of Metro Manila. aasm2018.sportphil.com
CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES To bridge practitioners and the academe from here and abroad in the field of sport management, sport marketing and sport entrepreneurship; To provide a venue where various disciplines can network; and To learn to apply different technical and management skills in the planning and execution of sport programs, sport clubs and enterprises.
THE TALKS The conference talks will be spearheaded by international keynote speakers, who will be tackling expertise in Sport Management, Sport Marketing, and Sport Tourism, among others. Active workshops will then be led by local sport and P.E. educators, including: Success in Sport Media, Teaching Sports, Designing Sponsorship Plans, Best Practices in School Athletic Programming, and Tournament Management, Fundraising for Athletes, Dance Movement Therapy, to name a few. There will also be a call for submission of papers and posters on the above topics, open to all students and teachers.
THE TALKS Featuring Keynote Speeches from international experts: Packianathan Chelladurai, Ph.D., LL.D., FNAK Critical Factors Behind Pursuit of Excellence in International Sport Dr. Chelladurai, Distinguished Professor, Troy University, is a founding member of the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) and the European Association for Sport Management (EASM). In 2015, the European Association of Sport Management named its most prestigious award the EASM Chelladurai Award. David K. Stotlar, Ed.D. Making Dollars and Sense of Sport Sponsorship and Fan Engagement Dr. Stotlar served as the Director of the School of Sport & Exercise Science at the University of Northern Colorado 1992-1996 & 2007-2014; retiring in 2015. As a Full Professor he taught on the faculty in the areas of sport management and sport marketing. He has had more than 90 articles published in professional journals and has written more than 50 textbooks and book chapters in sport marketing and management. Dr. Munehiko Harada Chairman, Japan Sport Tourism Alliance (JTSA) Dr. Harada has held vital positions with the National Institute of Fitness and Sport and Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences, Asian Association for Sport Management (AASM), and Japanese Association for Sport Management (JASM) prior to taking up his current position as professor on the faculty of sport sciences at Waseda University, Tokyo. Dr. Harada is a well-published author on sport management, sport marketing, sport tourism, and leisure studies.

ASIAN ASSOCIATION FOR SPORT MANAGEMENT In 1999, the Asian Association for Sport Management (AASM) was organized by a group of enthusiastic scholars from Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, China, Japan, and Korea. AASM was formally established in South Korea in September 2002 and hosted its first annual conference at the National Korean Sports University. AASM is a professional organization that combines academic with practical research and promotion in the field of sport management. Some of AASM s missions include encouraging and promoting original research in both theoretical and applied aspects of sport management theory and practice, assisting in the dissemination of information and knowledge base in sport management, organizing various congresses to promote and strengthen the purpose of AASM, publishing proceedings and journals related to sport management, facilitating and developing relationship among academic institutions in Asia, and collaborating with other organizations with similar purposes. Since its establishment, AASM has expanded its member nations by a large degree. SPORTPHIL Sport Management Council of the Philippines (SportPhil) is an organization that assists and promotes excellence in sport management, science and business combining foreign and local expertise. Its aim is to be the most trusted resource, enabler, and convenor for progressive Philippine Sport Development. DLSU-RAMON V. DEL ROSARIO COLLEGE OF BUSINESS The College of Business, also known as Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business (RVR-COB) and formerly De La Salle-Professional Schools, Inc., is one of the eight undergraduate and graduate schools of De La Salle University. It was established in 1920 as the College of Commerce when the University began offering a two-year commercial course. On July 25, 2011, the College was inaugurated as Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business to honor the respected alumnus and visionary businessman. Ramon V. del Rosario built the first Filipino-owned oil refinery, Filoil Refinery Corporation, and challenged foreign oil companies. Afterwards, he also served as ambassador to Canada, Germany, and Japan. During this time, he brought professors from the Harvard Business School into the country to teach management courses.
