Scholarships *New Scholarships in Orange SC State Fair Scholarship Eligibility: Student must be a current senior in a public high school in the state of South Carolina and the application must be postmarked by March 16 th, 2012. Amount: $1,500 for four years (50 Scholarships will be awarded in SC) Applications are available in the front of guidance. Epsilon Iota Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Scholarship Eligibility: High school senior planning on attending a four year school with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Applications are in the front of guidance. Dorothy Marron Memorial Scholarship Application In honor of Dorothy Marron, ALM established a$2,000 scholarship in her name to benefit students majoring in a vocation involving international service to the poor and disenfranchised peoples in developing countries of the world. Requirements: 1. Pursing a degree that would lead to a career in overseas service or missionary work. These fields would include, but not limited to: medicine, nursing, international studies, education, non-profit management, theology, missions or
social work. (other degrees may qualify if you are able to explain your plan for helping the poor in the developing world. 2. 3.0 on a 4.0 scale 3. Residents of Greenville County 4. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Scholarship Requirements: African-American senior with a GPA of 2.5 or greater on a 4.0 scale. Student must have financial need and has an acceptance to an accredited institution of higher education for the fall of 2012. Applications are available in the front of guidance. Student will need three letters of recommendations. Deadline: March 18 th, 2012 2012 DSTinguished Pageant Omicron Phi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. would like to welcome you to the 2012 Mr. DSTinguished Pageant. Open to all Males ages 17-22. Requirements: Fill out an application, submit proof of current/future enrollment into a higher education institution, submit $200 worth of advertisements and a $20 non-refundable fee by February 20 th. The winner will win $500 towards their college tuition. Pick up an application in guidance. Alpha Kappa Sorority, Epsilon Beta Omega Scholarship Amount: $1,000 Deadline: March 22 nd
Qualifications: Student must have a 3.0 or higher, and accepted by a four-year college or university. Two letters of recommendation, a recent photo, 300 word essay, SAT/ACT scores, and their official transcript must be included with the application. Applications can be picked up in guidance. A.C.E. Award This award helps recognize students who have persevered through difficult challenges in their life. Recipients of the A.C.E. award can be headed to a technical school or directly into the workforce. The criteria for being a nominee are: 1. High School Senior on target for graduation 2. 500 words or less narratives from the person who is nominating the student 3. Two 250 words or less narratives written by the student describing: a. The event/events in your life that you are most proud of b. AHAM College Scholarship Award Program (The Asociacion Hispano-Americana de Mujeres) AHAM is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting higher education among high school students of Hispanic descent in Upstate South Carolina though educational scholarships. Requirements: Hispanic Origin or Descent (only from Spanish speaking countries, first or second generation) Legal Status in the USA, be in a public or private school, class of 2012 GPA 3.5 or higher Accepted by as a full-time student at an accredited university, technical college or vocational school in the US Application: Scholarships are available in the guidance office. Amount: $2,000 to $6,000 (six scholarships are awarded in the Upstate)

Bi-Lo Urban League Scholarship Eligibility Requirements: Any student is eligible to apply but these scholarships are awarded primarily based on financial need and strength of the essay. Light Up A Life Scholarship Program *Recipient must be the child of a current employee of the Greenville Hospital System or the child or grandchild of an active GHS volunteer. Eligibility Requirement: Be a high school senior who will graduate in 2012 Achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 in both mathematics and science while in high school Plans of attending an accredited college, university, or technical college for the Summer or Fall term immediately after graduation Pursuing an Associate or Baccalaureate Degree in a healthcare profession

CAWS Scholarship (Female Applicants majoring in the medical or education field) 1. South Carolina Coaches Association of Women s Sports and Trophies by M Scholarship - $1,000 scholarship to an enrolling female college freshman planning to major in the medical field. 2. South Carolina Coaches Association of Women s Sports Educator s Scholarship - $500 scholarship to an enrolling female college freshman planning to enroll in education. Deadline: March 1 st, 2012 Nina Neely Scholarship Essay Contest The Reformed Universal Masonic Brotherhood and Order of the Eastern Star, Inc. will award a $1,000 for 1 st place, $600 for 2 nd place, and $400 for 3 rd place this year in their annual essay contest. Greenville County Schools/PEPSI Golf Scholarship Eligibility Requirements: Senior student enrolled in any GCS high school for the entire senior year, plan to enroll in an accredited two or four year post-secondary institution, a cumulative 3.0 or better GPA, ranked in 30 th percentile of senior class, active in school
and/or community activities, must not have received notification they will receive a scholarship of $5000 or more from another source by date winners are named (Palmetto and Life Scholarships are exempt), scholarship application must be submitted by the school. Coates/SCACT Scholarship The South Carolina Education Association-Retired administers the J.P. Coates/SCACT Scholarship as an ongoing activity of the Association. The Scholarship is awarded annually and is designed to encourage promising young people to prepare for careers in education at an accredited four-year college or university in South Carolina.

Applications must be postmarked by March 15 th, 2012. Deadline: March 15 th, 2012 The J.E. Sirrine Scholarship Program with Greenville County Schools Who is Eligible to Apply? Any graduate of the class of 2012 of Greenville County public high school is eligible to apply. Take the ACT before December 10 th or SAT before January 28 th Your parents must complete the FAFSA before January 31 st, in order for you to submit the Student Aid Report by April 15 th, 2012. The Application must be complete, along with the school s recommendations (provided by your guidance counselor) before April 15 th. Amount: The amount will range between $200 and $2,000 depending upon a student s financial need. See Ms. Kelsey in guidance for a full-application. Luke H. Chatman Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is targeted for African American students who attend a public High School in Greenville County. African American Males are preferred. Students must complete an application by April 1 st, 2012 in order to be considered for the scholarship. For an application, please come to guidance. Financial Aid Workshops Thursday, February 23 rd at 6:30 PM (Woodmont High School) General Information for All Seniors Exams Senior Exams: May 16-18 Senior Makeup Exams: May 21 GRADUATION Mauldin High school holds mandatory graduation practices, there are no exceptions: Mandatory Senior Meeting- Friday, May 25 8:30 MHS Auditorium Mandatory Graduation Meeting-Tuesday, May 29 9:00 MHS new gym Mandatory Graduation Practice- Wednesday, May 30 7:30 pm at the BI-LO Center Graduation- June 1; 7:30 pm at the BI-LO Center (Seniors to report at 6:15) College Visits: Seniors may request three college days during an academic year. In order for a college day to count as a field trip, students must bring a note from a parent/guardian at least five days before the college visit to the MHS Attendance Office. In addition, you must bring, on the college/university letterhead, written proof of your visit to the institution the day you return to school to the attendance office. If you fail to follow this procedure exactly, your college visit will count as an unexcused absence.
