Coping with the e ver-growing patient volume LRBT Odigram Hospital-Swat: LRBT reached another milest one with the opening of its new Hospital at O digram, Swat. The formal inauguration of LRBT's Odigram Hospital took place on 28th May 2014. The Honorable Governor, Khyber Pakthunkhwa, Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan graced the occasion. equipment and a gener ator for the Hospital hav e also been installed. Final touches are presently being given to the separately funded project involving a canteen for the patients, relaying the roof of the male ward and a generator room. A section of the old building is being converted into a doctors' residence to ensure their availability at the premises. This has been done through our own resources. We expect the latter project to complete by mid August 2014. Gambat: Following the successful venture of expansion of the Khanewal Hospital which is now providing quality eye care services to the needy and poor people of the area, our sponsor, a very generous donor based in the U AE offered to fund a lar ge e xpansion programme involving construction of a new OPD C omplex, expansion of wards, external works and residences for doctors. Construction began in Januar y this year and is expected to be completed by July next year. Lahore Thokar Niaz Baig: Mr. Najmus Saquib Hameed, Honorary Vice Chairman and CEO, LRBT and Mr. Umar Ghafoor, COO, LRBT were also present at the occasion. After a tour of the hospital, the Governor shared his views about LRBT: LRBT is a great inspiration for the Society, who is contributing to Free Eye Care for nearly three decades. Inauguration of Swat hospital of LRBT is an honor for me. Wish the trustees and their team the very best wishes and prayers. LRBT has been donated a fully constructed building on the main Multan Road near Thokar Niaz Baig by its loyal and generous donor and a Trustee of the LRBT Board, Mr. Usman Paracha. The plan to alter, remodel and refurbish this ex factory building for conversion into a hospital has been finalized and work is expected to start in mid July 2014. The costs of alterations etc. will be borne by Mr. Paracha. This project is expected to be completed and operational in the first quarter of next year. Korangi: In view of the incr ease in the number of our Hospitals and Community Eye Health Centers over the years, it was felt necessary to construct a main Store at Korangi to provide for the needs of every facility in the network. A plan to construct this block in the hospital is now ready. Construction work was initiated in the third week of June. An optical shop is also being c onstructed in the premises near the new OPD to provide good quality glasses and spectacles at reasonable prices to the visiting patients following examination or surgery. Funding for this facility has been provided by Sightsavers. The Optical Shop is e xpected to commence operation by the end of September 2014 while the Store Facility should be completed by mid January next year. Akora Khattak: Tando Bago: Under an ag reement signed with, The Consulate of Japan at Karachi, the construction of a new surgical complex and its allied services, funded b y w as c ompleted on schedule. M edical Due to substantial increase in the number patients visiting the hospital and limited space available to carry out the r equired activity, there was urgent need for constructing a purpose built OPD complex, expansion of the Operation Theatre and addition of Doctors residences. A generous donor, Mr. Aziz Shariff very kindly offered to fund this project which will start in mid August 2014. This project is e xpected to complete by end D ecember 2015. 02 TREATING 36% OF ALL EYE PATIENTS IN PAKISTAN
