Common Picture (CoPi)? Recognized All Picture (RAP) All means: Interest of things in space, air, land & sea Recognized EM Spectrum (REMS) Both peace time & war time Common Picture = RAP + REMS Could we call common picture as a EW Spectrum or EM Operational Environment? 4

Area of Interest (AOI)? The nearly real-time presentation of EW Spectrum on screen Use some filters and/or clusters to generate EW Spectrum of area of interest or given operational area defined user zone 5

Preemptive Operations (PROP)? Why do we need PROP? To keep DOMINANCE / SUPERIORITY Also for protection of all assets including platforms At the end to Management of EW Spectrum in the electromagnetic battle space PROP at least needs SIGINT Attack Protection systems and supporting infrastructure 6

EW Spectrum Management Symmetric and asymmetric warfare becomes more complex Vulnerability of military assets are increasing in multispectral threat environments Need to have full situational awareness and nearly real time mapping of EM Battle space for the decision makers Dominance on full spectrum and appropriate systems required Requires know-how on threats, sensor systems, fusion and countermeasure / attack systems. 7

Perception: Awareness of EW Spectrum aselsan The eyes of the EW are the sensors, Captures the full spectrum environment in terms of different characteristics (de-fusion of EMS) Search for, intercept, identify, locate or localize intentional and unintentional EM energy (global backgroung EM envi.) For immediate threat recognition (ESM etc.) or long-term operational planning (ELINT etc.) General systems requirements: Keep silent, wide spectrum - bandwidth - dynamic range, accurate AOA/geo-localization, recording, real time analysis 10

Some Remarks There are new rules of EW spectrum management or EM battle game To support the battle managers Future systems of systems (SoS) architectures which team unmanned and manned systems / platforms shall operate within a dynamic coordination, should support both integrated coordination and deconflicting methodology, shall operate in uncertain and restricted communication environments SIGINT collection, processing and exploitation process by using advanced techniques should be provided with automation (no more man in the loop systems) 17
