Explore up-to-the-minute science related to these fascinating fish, learn how recent discoveries have changed what we thought we knew about them, and find out where Davis's research is headed next. FEBRUARY 16 Adventures in Antarctic Paleontology with paleontologist KERIN CLAESON, Department of Bio-Medical Sciences, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine In 2016, a team of scientist explorers undertook a fossilfinding mission to the Antarctic Peninsula. Retrace the adventure with participating researcher Kerin Claeson, and explore possible clues about the evolution and distribution of fishes and other marine vertebrates that lived millions of years ago near the South Pole. Journey across the Pacific Ocean and centuries back in time at the museum's fifth Annual Dinner and Talk. Enjoy island-style hors d'oeuvres, locally-made beverages, and a gourmet dinner inspired by traditional Pacific cuisine. Spearheaded by the Museum Advisory Council, the annual award recognizes an individual or organization that has engaged the community in an environmental or cultural heritage project one that aligns with the museum s mission to inspire stewardship of our past, present, and future. The recipient of the award will receive $1,000 and be recognized at an award reception, in museum publications, and on the Oregon Heroes display panel in our Explore Oregon exhibit. Every day, the museum s stewardship mission brings us into contact with Oregon heroes people who are doing amazing work to protect and preserve our ecosystems, landscapes, and cultures, said MNCH executive director Jon Erlandson. The Oregon Stewardship Award will help shine welldeserved light on that work. The nomination deadline is January 15, 2018.
