OH WE RE FROM TIGERLAND... Extending your lifetime of support for the Richmond Football Club The Richmond Football Club has established its Bequest Program to ensure that our children, grandchildren and future generations retain the opportunity to be part of something great and forever roar the words Yellow & Black. Members and supporters have been a driving force in forging the magnificent history of the Richmond Football Club. We invite you to consider extending your lifetime of support for the Club by becoming a member of the Richmond Bequest Society and providing a legacy for the future. The Richmond Bequest Society is focused on the advancement, development and longevity of the Club to provide the enjoyment for current and future generations of Richmond supporters. By providing the funding for stateof-the-art facilities and equipment, Richmond Bequest Society members will influence the development of our players to ensure future generations enjoy the same wonderful experiences Tiger supporters have had for more than 100 years. By doing so, you will help keep the Club financially strong, successful and welcoming for future players, supporters and the community. 2 RICHMOND BEQUEST SOCIETY RICHMOND BEQUEST SOCIETY 3

The AFL competition is a fiercely fought battle and all Victorian teams are under pressure to maximise income over the longer term. This is where bequests can be yet another ongoing source of generating a valuable income stream. It has long been my dream that the Richmond Football Club embrace the concept of bequests and the realisation that both supporter and Club can create lasting friendships and comfortable fellowship within the regular activities of the Richmond Bequest Society. This process is one that adds another dimension to our Society members love affair with the Richmond Football Club and provides a wonderful thrill, particularly for our older members, as we reward, recognise and thank them for their commitment to providing ongoing support for the Club. Extending a lifetime of support for Richmond Football Club. Implementing the program in 2008 was, for me, simply a labour of love and I accept the esteemed title of Patron of the Richmond Bequest Society with great honour. Punt Road Oval An icon of Richmond and home to the Tigers Punt Road Oval is an icon of the Richmond Football Club; a place near and dear to all those who feel passionately about the Yellow and Black a veritable shrine of Tiger memories. From 1885 until 1964, Punt Road Oval played host to all of Richmond s home games and although Richmond hasn t played a match there for premiership points since 1964, it clearly remains home to the Tiger faithful. There s a connection bordering on the spiritual between Richmond fans and the ground that s seen by tens of thousands of Melburnians each day as they travel to and from the city. In 1914, the historic Jack Dyer Grandstand, as it was later to become known, was officially opened by the then Prime Minister of Australia, Andrew Fisher. Richmond s first official game was played in the VFA, on Punt Road Oval, on April 25, 1885 and cricket had been played on the ground since 1856. Some of the greatest players in not only Richmond s, but the game s history, regularly graced the Punt Road Oval turf the likes of Jack Dyer, Jack Titus, Vic Thorp, Percy Bentley, Bill Morris and Roy Wright. It has become known affectionately as Tigerland and in 1962 a new theme song penned by cabaret singer Jack Malcolmson provided a rousing battle anthem, evoking a renewed sense of pride, solidarity, aggression, resilience, bravery, tradition and strength. The Richmond Football Club invites you to help ensure Tigerland remains a strong and proud home for our children, grandchildren and all the generations to come, by generously extending your lifetime of support for the Club. ABOUT THE BEQUEST SOCIETY What does being a member of the Richmond Bequest Society entail? Members of the Richmond Bequest Society make the gift of a bequest to the Club by stating their intention to make a contribution in their will. There are no joining fees and there are no costs associated with attendance at functions. You will be part of a warm, welcoming and friendly social environment contributing to your Club s success while catching up with old friends and making new ones. What benefits do I receive as a Bequest Society member? Membership certificate Unique membership pin Personalised Society name badge Induction to the Bequest Society honour roll Invitations to social gatherings and functions where past and/ or present players may be in attendance A Richmond history book that captures all the wonderful memories of Tigerland Yellow & Black 100 Years of Tiger Treasures A signed Richmond birthday card to commemorate your special day each year Recognition, on realisation of the member s bequest, on a perpetual honour board (unless wishing to remain anonymous) Plaque of appreciation given to the family of the bequest member Your legacy respected. Should you decide to join the Richmond Bequest Society, your bequest will be treated with the utmost respect. Your bequest will be invested into an Endowment Fund which will be built and sustained to secure the long term future of the Club. An Investment Committee comprising selected members of the Board and one or more other external parties will establish and develop investment strategies for the Endowment Fund. The Investment Committee will meet as is reasonably required to review the performance of the Endowment Fund. Save for exceptional circumstances, only income earned from the Endowment Fund will be accessed and used to support the Club s development needs. This income will be used to improve facilities and resources for the development of the players and coaches as we relentlessly strive for the ultimate on-field success. It is the intent that the Endowment Fund itself will not be drawn upon, and in doing so the Club will build a powerful, long-term endowment for the future. This means your legacy remains a perpetual gift to the Club. 8 RICHMOND BEQUEST SOCIETY RICHMOND BEQUEST SOCIETY 9

How to make a bequest It s a surprising statistic that less than two-thirds of the Australian adult population has a valid Will. By having a legal Will, you can avoid the confusion that sometimes arises. Making a Will can put your mind at ease because you ll know that your personal wishes will be honoured. It s your way to take care of family members and others who have been important to you throughout your life. Once you have ensured that you have taken care of your family, friends and loved ones and you have made the decision to become a member of the Richmond Bequest Society, your bequest to the Club can take a number of forms: A percentage of the value of your Estate (so other beneficiaries are not disadvantaged should circumstances change), or The whole or part of the residue of the Estate after you ve made provisions for family and other beneficiaries, or A specified amount of money (note that the amount you nominate now will be exactly the same amount in years to come and will not have increased in its value) The Richmond Football Club is not qualified or authorised to provide legal advice. To ensure that your wishes are clearly and legally stated, you may wish to consider the following options: Consulting a qualified Solicitor or Trustee Company; Amending your Will to insert a clause which provides for the Richmond Football Club; or Completing a simple codicil document. While there are several types of bequest clauses, the following is most commonly used for a general bequest: I give to the Richmond Football Club (ABN: 25 679 793 340) % of the whole of the residue of my Estate, OR the whole of the residue of my Estate, OR the sum of $ to be applied for the benefit of or to the Richmond Bequest Society. The receipt of an authorised officer of the Richmond Football Club will be sufficient discharge to my Executor/Trustee 10 RICHMOND BEQUEST SOCIETY CONFIDENTIAL MEMBERSHIP ENQUIRY YOUR DETAILS Mr Mrs Ms Miss Other Please specify First name Last name Address State Postcode Telephone Email I have already included a gift to the Richmond Football Club in my Will I would like to know more about joining the Richmond Bequest Society I am considering making the gift of a bequest Please contact me to discuss further Please complete your details and return this form by post to: Bequest Officer Richmond Football Club P.O.
