FROM THE PASTOR S DESK Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Francis de Sales, Jesus says, This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one s life for one s friends. (John 15:12-13) The love that Jesus speaks of is the love of generosity, self-giving, and sacrifice. To love as Jesus loves is to pour out one s life for the sake of others. Jesus teaches us that we find true meaning in life through being instruments of God s mercy, compassion, forgiveness, care, consolation and love in this world. Today is Mother s Day, a day set aside to honor in a special way the women in our lives who reflect God s love and care. We give thanks for our mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers and other women who have nurtured and guided us in countless ways. On this special day, we pray for all mothers. We ask that the Lord reward them for their many sacrifices, and that He continue to shower his blessings upon them. Let s show them how them how much we cherish them, and how much we appreciate all that they do. Happy Mother s Day! God s Blessings, Fr. Our museum depends on our great staff of volunteers to keep things going. There are so many volunteer jobs to pick from that our volunteers can do anything from being museum guides, painting, setting up displays, computer work or using any other talents or skill you may have. If you enjoy working with people in a friendly and happy place, love learning about the history of the Geneva Lake area and then sharing it with others, please give us a try! You can contact us at (262) 248-6060 or email us at staff@genevalakemuseum.org. Thank you and hope to hear from you! TAKE A LOOK All three defibrillators are up in their cabinets. One is at the Main Street entrance to the church, one is just inside the double doors from the chapel into the parish center and the third one is in the school by the gym. The cabinets are alarmed to discourage tampering, but in an emergency the alarm will help to alert others in the area to come to assist. Thank you again to all of our sponsors. Additional CPR/Defibrillator training classes will be held in the future. If you are interested in participating in a class, please contact Millie McCormick at (630) 310-4703. WELCOME, CHILDREN OF GOD! HELP NEEDED The spring church cleaning will be on Friday, May 15, and Saturday, May 16. Please come help wash chairs, clean pews, scrub the floor, take down cobwebs, vacuum chairs, wash the walls, vacuum the floors, etc. We want the church to shine. Bring your favorite rags, buckets and cleaners or we will also have supplies. If you have any questions, call Nancy Lazzaroni at (262) 248-8247. Thanks in advance for your help! RESERVE THE WEEKEND Calling all women to prayerfully consider attending the English-speaking Emmaus retreat. The retreat will start Friday, June 5, after work until Sunday, June 7, in the afternoon. If you have been looking for a way to get closer to God, this will help you get started on that path. We look forward to seeing you there!
