Name: Delegation: Sub Group (Letter) Topic (Circle one): Small Arms Trade Ending Epidemics Forum on Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) 17 th MUN NGO Packet Available Leadership Positions Under-Secretary General There is the same number of Under-Secretary General positions available as topics. Candidates for this position run in front of the entire NGO program during the second session of Bob Jr. The candidates with the most votes are selected. Elected USGs will determine which Agency they will direct amongst themselves. The Under-Secretary General will lead discussions in the Agency regarding the guidelines for NGO projects. They will also work with the Secretary General to support his or her agenda in the NGO program. The USG should work with the Agency members to communicate the Secretary General s agenda to the NGOs. Candidates must declare their candidacy before Bob Jr. Candidates MUST be a returning delegate to the NGO program. Agency Member One member of each NGO sub-group will be elected from the NGO to be a member of the affiliated agency in charge of the topic. Candidates for this position run in front of their NGO sub-group (10-12 people) during the third session at Bob. Jr. Once the agency member is selected they are no longer affiliated with the NGO, but they will communicate with the NGO regarding the NGO s project. Agency members are considered experts on the topic and the Agency in which they work. They will work with a group of 6-7 other Agency members and the Under-Secretary General of the Agency to determine guidelines for NGO projects. Candidates should be a returning delegate to the NGO program, but it is not a requirement, particularly if no returners in any given sub-group are interested in the position. Candidates announce their candidacy within the NGO sub group during the third program session at Bob Jr. NGO Director One member of each NGO sub-group will be elected from the NGO to be the director of the NGO. NGO Program Vocabulary Topic: a broad, general issue that ambassadors will select to work on. Previous topics include Water and Sanitation, Primary Education, Child Labor, Refugees in Syria, Disaster Response in Japan. NGO/sub-group: After selecting a topic, ambassadors will be divided into sub-groups. These sub-groups are the NGOs with which ambassadors will design a specific project regarding their topic. Agency: There will be several Agencies based on the number and type of topics. Previous agencies include UNDP, UNEP, FAO, WHO, UNHCR, UNOCHA. Under-Secretary General (USG): The director of an Agency. This position is elected at Bob Jr. I am the USG of UNDP, which is requesting proposals for Water and Sanitation projects. Agency Members: One ambassador from each NGO sub-group will be elected to become an Agency member. Agency members will work with their respective Under-Secretary General to create guidelines to determine which NGO projects to fund. They are not affiliated with the NGO sub-group from which they came, but they will communicate the guidelines that are selected with that sub-group. I am a member of UNICEF. I am developing guidelines to determine which proposals for projects regarding Universal Primary Education UNICEF will fund. NGO Director: One ambassador from each NGO sub-group will be elected to become that NGO s director. The director leads discussion within the NGO with the support of the Secretariat. I am the director of the NGO Learning to Work (Child Labor B), which is working to reduce Child Labor by educating parents and factory owners of Cambodia s child labor laws. NGO Member: NGO members work together to design a project proposal that is submitted to the Agency in charge of the topic they are working on. I am a member of the NGO Water Wizards (Water and Sanitation E), which is designing a project to promote the use of water filters to reduce arsenic poisoning. Questions I have:
