Consistent heavy machinery traffic and future construction efforts make portions unsafe. To ensure the safety of runners and walkers everyone is asked to avoid the closed portions. Volunteer Basketball Coaches Needed The CYSS Sports department is looking for volunteer basketball coaches for the upcoming season. The season is November February, with practices two times a week, and games on weekends. Fort Detrick CYSS plays in the Monocacy Youth Basketball League. A background check is required along with a coaches meeting/training. For more information please contact the CYSS Sports Director at 301 619 2538.

Tennis Court Closure The Fort Detrick tennis courts are currently off limits due to safety conditions. The tennis courts will reopen once repairs are completed. For questions or concerns, please contact Odom Fitness Center at 301 619 2498. The Fort Detrick Thrift Shop The Thrift Shop will be through Friday, Sept. 5. It will be open on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. noon. Hours of Operation: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. 3 p.m. and the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. noon. The Thrift Shop is located at 11 Porter Street. 2014 Fort Detrick and White House Christmas Ornaments have arrived! The 2014 Fort Detrick ornament features the U.S. Earth Station and will cost $15. The 2014 White House ornament is a 2 piece train car set honoring President Warren G. Harding. The cost of the White House ornament will be $20. We have a very limited number of signed and numbered Nallin Pond prints from local artist Rebecca Pearl. The prints cost $50. Proceeds from the sales of the prints and ornaments go towards the Thrift Shop s scholarship program. Transition from Coca Cola to Pepsi Coca Cola and Pepsi representatives will be on post removing/installing machines beginning the week of September 1. There will be downtime between the removal of the Coca Cola machines and the installation/filling of the Pepsi machines, please be patient as this transition occurs. Barquist Army Health Clinic Announcements Barquist Army Health Clinic Construction: Starting Friday, August 29, Building 1434 (BAHC) the front entrance plaza replacement project will begin. It is estimated to take about a week for the entire project before the main entrance can be used again.
