Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) Program Overall Classification:

Warfighting Development Centers TYCOM s executive agent to train surface forces in advanced tactics, techniques, & procedures (TTP) All levels and all phases of training WTIs are the center of gravity for accomplishing SMWDC s mission: Increasing the lethality and tactical proficiency of the Surface Force across all domains WTIs are empowered to be the most tactically relevant warfighters in the SWO community

WTI Program: Status Report 2017 87 new graduates! 213 total graduates to date: 111 IAMD, 63 ASW/SUW, 39 AMW 2018 and beyond 3 convenings producing 110 WTIs per year Increased shipboard representation 23 WTIs already serving in ship or staff tours! Long term goal: 1 WTI DH per ship and staff Produce subject matter experts (SME) WTIs teaching WTIs (self sufficient)

WTI Graduate Education WTIs are and will continue to be excellent candidates for FSEP (Fleet Scholar Education Program) GEV quotas will be prioritized for WTI use Single Long Tour (SLT) DIVO tour expands opportunities for elite/competitive programs (FSEP, MIT/WHOI, etc.) NPS Distance Learning and War College fleet seminar programs available year-round Service College Quotas (Navy and Army) pre and post DH tour! NPS Fellowship in final planning stages!

WTI Myth Busters You can be a WTI and qualify for Gucci tours (SECNAV Industry, FSEP, NPS); harder, but not impossible There are many opportunities for graduate education during and post WTI production tour as well as post-dh WTIs are not locked in any specialty track WTI Program is open to select LDOs/CWOs (currently ~10%)
