In the ART *Raven Walk to Honor the Class of 2013* Friday, June 14 Seniors will be called to report from their 6 th period class * Commencement Ceremony* Saturday, June 15, 4:00 p.m. Seniors report to ARHS Auxiliary Gymnasium - 2:25 p.m. and arrive by bus *Grad Night Party* Saturday, June 15 Graduate Information Graduation: Only seniors who have been officially approved may walk in the Commencement Ceremonies. Attire: All seniors must wear the official cap with tassel, gown and medallion for Commencement exercises. No other adornments or alterations will be allowed on the caps or gowns, aside from honor cords or medallions, at the ceremony. If you have not ordered your cap and gown yet, stop by the Activities Office, immediately! In addition to the cap and gown, graduates are expected to dress appropriately for a ceremony of this nature. Students who have religious/cultural imperatives that require an addition to the graduation apparel must submit paperwork to the principal no later than May 11. Appeal paperwork may be picked up in the main office. MALE--A collar shirt with a regular tie should be worn. Sport coat should not be worn under the robe. Slacks/suit pants should be pressed and shoes should be shined/clean. No casual beach sandals or shoes will be allowed. Sunglasses will not be permitted. FEMALE--A dress or dress slacks are most appropriate. Flat or chunky heeled shoes must be worn for the safety and protection of each graduate, as well as the astro-turf and artificial track surface. No flip flops please. No spike or stiletto heels allowed!! The graduation cap must fit squarely on top of your head. Wear a hair style that will accommodate this cap. Use bobby pins if you need to. No casual beach sandals or shoes will be allowed. Sunglasses will not be permitted. Behavior: Only appropriate behavior will be accepted. Graduation is a sophisticated ceremony holding dignity for all, including participants, parents, and guests. Inappropriate behaviors during senior events, including graduation, may result in removal from graduation ceremonies and will require completed community service hours before a diploma is released.
Graduate Information Senior Line-up: Seniors must arrive at the back doors of the auxiliary gymnasium at 2:25 p.m. and be seated in the main gym by 2:30 p.m. Graduates and faculty only will be allowed in the auxiliary gymnasium before the ceremony. BAGS, CAMERAS, PURSES, ETC., WILL NOT BE ADMITTED INTO THE GYM FOR SENIOR LINEUP! These items will be confiscated in the gym. They will be available for retrieval at the visitor entrance of Memorial Stadium after Graduation. Graduates must have their caps, gowns, and tassels in their hands prior to entering the auxiliary gymnasium. Once they have entered, grads will not be allowed to leave the auxiliary gym. A medallion will be given when the senior checks in. All seniors participating in Commencement must be present at the ARHS gym and must be transported by the buses provided. The ARHS parking lot is not supervised during Commencement. Please consider this when making transportation arrangements. Drug/Alcohol/Tobacco Use: Any students who are found to have been using alcohol or other drugs will not be allowed to participate in the ceremonies. The use of alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs is strictly forbidden at any school district event. Picking up Diplomas: Diplomas will be available for pick up starting July 9th, during summer business office hours. Your diploma will not be issued if you have unpaid fines/fees, owe Friday School, detention time, or have not earned the required credits for graduation. Diplomas will not be mailed. If you are unable to pick up your diploma in person, a letter explaining this with your signature must accompany the designee. Guest Information Handicapped Parking and Seating: Please request special elderly or handicapped passes for seating and parking in advance by calling 804-5154 and ask for Janet Oke. These special passes will not reserve you an individual seat, but will allow you an opportunity to sit in a designated area for guests with special needs. Please plan on arriving early. All empty seats in the designated seating area will be opened to general seating at 4:00 p.m. One escort may accompany a person holding a special seating pass. Other family members will be expected to sit in general seating. Special parking is also available with a vehicle pass. Handicapped parking is located on Fourth St. NE across from the pool. Fourth St. NE will be closed to all through traffic between F & H Streets starting at 12 noon. Please access handicapped parking from 4 th ST NE and E Street. All special passes requested in advance will be inserted into your graduate s Commencement ticket envelope. Young Children: With respect to the graduates, performers, speakers, and fellow audience members, please be aware that the Commencement ceremony may not be favorable for young children. Please be considerate of others also in attendance and consider alternate plans for young children. All members of the audience need to remain seated and as quiet as possible. Noise Makers/Loud Vocals: With respect to the graduates, performers, speakers, and fellow audience members, please be aware that the Commencement ceremony is not the environment for noise makers and loud vocal responses. Please be considerate of those also in attendance who wish to hear their graduate s name recognized.
Guest Information Camera/Video Recorders: Professional photographs will be taken as each graduate receives his/her diploma. These will be made available by mail after Commencement. Flash cameras and video cameras are allowed; however, no tripods will be permitted. No power will be available. No one will be allowed to loiter near the walkway or hand railings to take pictures. Late Arrival: Guests arriving after 4:00 p.m. will be asked to remain standing near the stadium entrance to allow for uninterrupted viewing. Please plan for congested traffic, distant parking, and other delays to ensure that you are able to sit in the stadium. We desire a positive experience for all. General Information GRADUATION DAY: Date: Saturday, June 15, 2013 Place: Auburn Memorial Stadium, 4 th street entrance. Time: Ceremony starts at 4:00 p.m. Auburn Memorial Stadium gates open to ticket holders at 2:45 p.m. Please plan to be seated by 3:45 p.m., plan for road blockages and distant parking (see below). Seniors report to the A.R.H.S. Auxiliary Gym at 2:25 p.m. *Graduates will be transported to Auburn Memorial Stadium by bus.* Return transportation will be provided but is optional. Tickets: All confirmed graduates will receive six (6) tickets for Commencement. Only confirmed graduates may pick up tickets and tickets are released only to graduates, no designees. Ticket distribution is based on the size of the graduating class and the district facility accommodations. The goal of Auburn Riverside is to provide as many tickets as possible through a fair and equitable process. Those graduates who feel they need additional tickets are encouraged to talk to fellow graduates who may not need their full allotment. Ticket distribution will begin at school starting on Friday, June 7, a full week before graduation, during lunches and after school until 3:00 p.m. The final day of ticket distribution will be Friday, June 14 before graduation, ending at 3:00 p.m. A process for distribution of any potential extra tickets will be announced during the week of ticket distribution. General Parking and Seating: PLEASE NOTE: With the construction at AHS, Parking is limited. Please allow extra time to find parking. General seating is on a first come first serve basis. Plan to arrive early for best seating. Parking is offered in the following areas: the south lot off East Main, the Administration Building parking lot, the east lot off J St., the west lot off Third St. NE, or on the streets in the area. There is NO PARKING on 4 th St. NE between E St. NE & H St. NE.
Graduate Information *OPTIONAL SENIOR EVENTS* Senior Awards Evening: This event will be held June 4 in the Main Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m. We will be honoring our seniors with achievement awards and scholarships. Senior students will be providing entertainment for everyone s enjoyment. Graduates need to be dressed in nice clothes (no jeans) with their graduation gowns only (no caps). Line-up in the Auxiliary Gym will start at 6:35 p.m. Please submit a certificate or letter that documents any awards or scholarships your son/daughter has received from any college or outside scholarship source that we may not be aware of. We would like to recognize these awards at the ceremony. This information must be submitted to the Career Center by May 1. Senior Grad Party: (Non-District Event) A post-graduation drug and alcohol free all night party will be provided by the parents of the 2013 Senior Class. Information is available in the main office.
