Welcome Dear Delegates, Welcome to the Saskatchewan Forum 2015. Saskatchewan has the opportunity to show greater economic, social, and institutional influence within Canada. The challenges the province is facing on productivity, trade, workforce, development, innovation, etc. are relevant to the entire country. Saskatchewan s leadership capacity on these specific files is becoming more visible across Canada. But what defines leadership success? During the next two days we will explore Saskatchewan s leadership role in the world, in Canada, and within our own borders. We are facing new challenges and opportunities that will test the skills of leaders in business, government, academia, and community-based organizations. During the sessions, your involvement is paramount to ensure strong dialogue generates constructive thought and action. Be provocative. Don t hesitate to raise issues and ideas that can move our conversations forward. The opportunity to network and continue discussion between sessions has been increased this year to ensure enough time exists to reflect and return to dialogue with your peers. We have framed leadership around three thoughts: how Saskatchewan has changed; how Saskatchewan has changed Canada; and how Saskatchewan will continue to redefine itself and Canada. According to the Saskatchewan Mining Association, there is more than $50 billion in mining capital projects expected from 2008 to 2028. Secure geopolitics plays an important part in capital investment, as does post-secondary educational facilities that support the development of a workforce, and supply chain advancements in mining machinery and technology.
